nice posts albert. that dries show was great, the key print was groovy. i suppose if dires was going to pull his head out of the 70s for a fucking second i was glad to see him go a little more back in time than forward. for some reason to me the 60s feels ripe for interpretation.

we are already getting an echo of 70s again vis a vis the current 90s revival--feeling pretty saturated by it atm desu. although i am secretly please to see jnco proportions return, even if for a moment. we recently just left a reinterpretation of the 80s in garb (and music!) hat was trendy in the early-mid 2000s. so i suppose the 60s and 50s are next on queue, along with late 90s-early 2000s raver/matrix styles

Extremely nice materials mixed with ancient/classic asian inspired cuts mixed with western style tailoring allows for a unique, silhouette driven outfit which allows one to self express beyond what mall suit could achieve. they're nothing wrong with wearing the latter, but the interestingness of this fit in particular lies especially in the mix of theme elements, cut and materials.

For me it's similar to concept cars. The likes of Jaguar, Mercedes etc aren't saying "hey here's a totally practical car that will definitely sell" it's about seeing what can happen with no limits, budget or engineering wise and what designers can come up with when there's less constraints on making sure there's room for kids and dogs and cup holders and shit. And also, for both cars and runway, whilst you may not see this entire outfit worn or even for sale, elements from them will make their way into more mainstream products.

the runway show is the designer's undiluted creative vision. there is usually some kind of narrative or character, or at least theme that the designer draws upon when creating clothes. most of this thread is yohji, so the long tops and baggy pants look like dresses to you i guess. there is a wide world of clothes out there beyond t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers, both through time and around the world. i am supposing if you are new to fashion you aren't very familiar with, lets say hakama pants (something yohji does often) or uhh, jumpsuits, there were a couple in this thread. the elongated, floaty silhouette is also something a bit in vogue at the moment, at least among designers.

i suggest you take it slow and look at designers that work with more wearable clothes before trying to evaluate more experimental and free design. junya watanabe, stephan schneider, and christophe lemaire are all designers whose work i consistently enjoy even though they dont go too far out there

im excited to see that short shorts are a trend for ss19

Fendi was strong this year. Quite heavy on the streetwear side, but I'm a simple man - I see red and black together and I'm happy. I really love Vacarello's blousey oversized tops though and the way they add a romantic twist to the staple SLP look.
I also don't know how much of the over-branding was his idea and how much of it was Kerring's way of separating the brand identity from Hedi's creative direction. A way to make sure that SLP can print money regardless of which designer is at the helm.

You should also watch the videos. Both Ann D and especially Yohji rely a lot on fabric movement which doesn't show as well in still images. Also, a lot of designers like Yohji, Issey and Junya tend to actually favour shows that do depict how the clothes will look on the streets when they do menswear shows. Varies from designer to designer though.
