I snagged some Levi's 511s, going to take them to the tailor tomorrow. I want them to be shortened to have the right length, while also having a good leg opening.

What length and leg opening would you guys recommend? For length I'm assuming that they should end slightly past the ankle and above the foot. Research points me towards a 5.5-6.5" leg opening, I have 10.5 Wide feet and my ankle is 6", so I'm thinking of 7".

If you ever been to a tailor all you have to do is just talk to him/her about what you want and they’ll do their best.

Otherwise they usually have a mirror set up so you can visualize what they’ll do as they pin you up.

Excellent. So I would go to them with my basic requirements, they pin me up and then we both discuss improvements / adjustments?

Yeah if you got a good tailor you have nothing to worry about OP.

Do make sure you’re clear on what you want, I almost had a pair of $200 jeans tapered too skinny because I have a habit of not speaking up, luckily they stretched a bit over a time and are now my best fitting/favorite pair.

My mates have recommended the tailor I'm going to, apparently she's pretty good and is very reasonable for prices. And yeah I'll make I get my point across haha. What were the jeans you got tailored?

I'm jealous of all your good experiences with tailors. I went to the top rated one in my city, with glowiing reviews and paid 35$ for two pants hemmed, when I got home I realized they didn't actually do any work at all and then they refused to refund me (I paid cash).

Now I don't know who to trust and I don't feel like burning another 30$ to try again.

That's what receipts are for my guy

pair of this brand called hillside, it has this rich blue color that broke in well over time, laurel leaf buttons, and mismatched pocket bags. really glad i bought a couple of pairs before they sold out because i’ve haven’t been able to find another brand i like (not really into the denim head brands like n&f etc.)

that fucking sucks

Did they not pin it up for you to see before they took it in the back? Return the pants and if they offer to do it again, take a picture in the mirror before and after just in case.
