Thoughts on this one from the replica series? I tested it briefly at the store and man that opening smells so good. Barbershoppy without smelling old or dated, just smells manly, and clean. Has that traditional lavender and tonka vibe but it's not too heavy, somewhat fresh too. I've wanted to try YSL rive gauche as well but my local store has had the same shitty tester for like two years and I'm pretty sure it's spoiled cause I can't smell shit when I try to use it.

I've never tried Rive Gauche because the male version is discontinued and I can't bring myself to try a product marketed towards females. I'll definitely be buying At the barber's in the near future though.

What's a spicy, manly frag that can be worn in the summer.

Imagine your car is in the shop. You need a ride home from work. So you call your friend to come pick you up. He pulls up to the side of the street in a mid 70s triumph motorcycle and tells you to get on back, so you do. As he revs and takes off you hug him in a non-gay way so you don't fall off from the torque. As you do, you find yourself met with a scent. It's warm, but it doesn't fight the summer breeze. It welcomes you to the ride in a completely heterosexual way.

What frag can do this for me?

>> No.13435977

lol at that story. you could have easily wrote it as if you were picking up your gf but for some reason it played out this way. knize ten is the first scent to come to mind from your story but it isnt spicy. l'air du desert marocain isnt bad for summer.

Smelled this for the first time at Neiman Marcus over the weekend. Is it supposed to smell like fabreze? Don't get me wrong, it smells very high end and natural, but like a very high end and natural version of fabreze. well niche yeah theres little way around it. unless you commute to a luxury department store. but in this case niche bottles are upwards of $150. seven niche samples should bring you to about $35, which yeah, is about how much you'd pay for a drug store fragrance but thats not you're after it seems. sampling niche is well worth it since blind buying a full bottle on a more expensive, experimental fragrance is foolish, especially for a newb

>> No.13439389

Sure anon, I've shared it here before earlier. Basically the gist of it is that I don't agree with all of the hyperbolic fantasy-like written reviews that call it dark and mysterious and vampire like, and etc. They're full of unnecessary exaggeration about the scent.

It's essentially a very realistic woodsy vetiver. If you like vetiver, then you'll undoubtedly like it. It's a lot brighter than what I read made me to believe, but I agree it's not your average designer and is anti-sweet. I get a bit of the inky vibe people talk about.

It's excelled on rainy days due to it's dampness but I'll try it during the Summer out of curiosity. I haven't tried the flankers and doubt I will anytime soon. But this is what's cool about noses, everyone's is different so reading about fragrance will only give you a general idea until you try your own nose with it.

Thank you for your thoughts. I've been interested in EN for a long time, but no chance of sampling it here, and blind buying it seems like a no-no.
The flankers seem a lot more approachable, and people say they're more wearable, but again, if I'm going the EN route, wearability is not really a concern as I'm more interested in its uniqueness.

Well it's on ebay for 120 bucks, so maybe I'll buy it in a few days since there are no reviews from the seller that indicate fakes. Surprised he jacked up his prices. One of the reasons I bought Amongst Waves was because it was a good deal for a neat scent with good performance. None of the other scents really feel worth that premium, so he should really reconsider.

Yeah, Gallagher is charging mid-range niche prices now for fragrances that are mostly pretty mediocre. You could almost get a bottle of an Amouage frag on the discount sites for what he’s charging for some of his scents now. Amongst Waves is a fun, interesting scent that lasts forever, as you said, and at 120.00, it was pretty good value (plus I got mine on sale), but there’s no way he should reasonably think his scents are even in the same ballpark as Amouage or Serge Lutens or other houses in that price range.

Alright lads I'm trying to decide whether to cop the new BdC Parfum or Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. I already own AHSEE and love it, it's one of my go-to's, but I'm running low on my current bottle and wanted to get another. I've never owed any of the Bleu line, though I've always thought it smelled very nice, even if a little "cologny" and familiar these days. Aquatics are really weird for me because I like my aquatics "modest." I own Kenzo pour homme, AdG parfumo, and amongst waves.

I've never been a huge fan of bergamot until recently when I got older, but I wore it again the other day and realized I really liked it. It starts off with a heavy does of bergamot and aquatic notes on my skin. After the initial spray, the cedar mixes in as well. Once it begins to dry down, the bergamost and aquatic notes get behind the cedar and musk, and you get a nice blend of all of the notes. It completely changes character, and that's something I feel a lot of my fragrances don't necessarily do. Amongst Waves goes from aquatic to sweet melon, but it's a more dramatic change than amongst. Even though it has ambroxan and iso e super (Which i have little experience with), it never comes off as an ambroxan bomb. As pissed at I am that Gallagher upped his prices, I have to admit that he does a real good job with keeping the heart and top notes light so the base notes can poke through. I don't think the price is THAT bad, he'll probably do a sale of it eventually, bringing to to original prices. I'd definitely say it's worth grabbing a sample of, and I think if you like Amongst Waves and you like bergamot, you'd like this one. I'd say it's a pinch more interesting than amongst waves, and it's a shame I slept on it so long.

Not the >>13439389 but I've got Encre Noire as well. I am glad I've bought it with a gigantic discount since this frag doesn't feel "safe" so to say. It's QUITE HEAVY, it's a simple frag (4 accords, i think?) and it's a bit overpowering. It does pretty well as a woody frag but as the same time it gets boring real quick.

It's funny how on clothes it mixes up with Burberry London and becomes a more bitter version of the latter

Start browsing internet a lot.
I got very cheap clone of Tom Ford Tuscan Leather for 20$.
Browse a lot of internet if you want to get into this shit.
Caution: don't blind buy unnecessary, visit Sephora, try perfumes on yourself and buy whatever suits you.

Alright. So I'll give one more opinion on those parfums vintage clones of green irish tweed since I wore a decant of it yesterday:

If you want a unique take on Green Irish Tweed, Verbena Fields is pretty nice. It's got a different scent than GIT since they amp up the verbena. If you want a GIT clone though, look elsewhere. For the price, Emerald Isle just isn't all that great of a clone. It's alright, don't get me wrong, but I think Rasasi Egra is the best clone I've tried. It captures more of that lemon citrus undertone in GIT than the PV clones, which I like. It also lasts a LOT longer, and projects more. Best part is that it's only 30 dollars. It's not like Pineapple Vintage as to Aventus, since PVI is probably the best clone out there right now.

And as a reminder, don't even touch Cool Water. It died in the 90s.

Don't bother with 1980's aromatic fougeres senpai, they aged horribly and you're unlikely to pull them off even in their present, badly R E F O R M U L A T E D form. 1990's oriental fougeres (Versace Dreamer, Paloma Picasso Minotaure, Boucheron Jaipur EDT) are more wearable alternatives and Lalique l'Insoumis is a great contemporary fougere.

I would say at the very least be consistent with your clothing. If you wear the same frag with your favorite red button-up every time you wear it then the shirt will eventually smell like that frag. If you wear different frags with it every time then it might grow into this weird smelling shirt.
A signature frag is a good idea if you have all your shirts in a drawer, since they will mingle smells otherwise. If you hang your shirts then having a different frag for each isn't a big deal, unless your closet is really small and they're smushed together super tight.
If you can't avoid mingling clothes but want different frags, just use light frags that don't linger--even if those scents mingle it is easier to mask it later on.

Ignore all of this advice if you're female.

I guess to add on to that, it's not the biggest deal in the world if you wear a shirt with a different frag than you usually have with it--just be aware that the smell will be slightly different than it normally is. It also depends on how you wash your clothes. If they get dry-cleaned you have nothing to worry about...or maybe it's the other way around--idk take it as you go.

Definitely a good idea. You'll create sense memories and possibly leave a lasting impression. I used to wear a certain frag so often to go out when I was younger that one of my friends, who had gotten it as a gift from her boyfriend, said she couldn't wear it without feeling like an impostor because it just felt like it was "mine".

Someone might think of you when a stranger walks by wearing the same scent or be completely unable to unlink scents like hinoki or rose from a summer spent with you. On top of that, you'll create memories from periods of time with your frags for yourself when you revisit them. "Oh this reminds me of the smell of a fog machine because I went to a lot of clubs that winter" or "I always wore this to meet the woman who was using me for an affair" and it makes your life more interesting

Nibba every 7th person on this planet is Indian and India doesn't have a perfume culture reason:
1. It's utterly poor
2. People go buy Axe or some random stuff shown on TV.
3. There's a attar and traditional perfume industry which serves the taste and budget.
4. Only the rich fags in big cities can afford these frags.
Smaller cities don't even have these western frag outlets.
