haute couture has a specific meaning in fashion. its bespoke and hand-sewn, very often using rare silk fabrics to make dresses. sometimes couturiers make separates too though. tongue in cheek/irony is a theme of vetements' design. demna studied fashion at the royal academy of fine arts, where the likes of dries van noten has graduated. demna has also worked for the margiela house and vuitton under marc jacobs and nicolas ghesquiere. it is an incredible stretch in my mind to believe the meaning of 'haute couture' is lost on him

forgot to mention that irony/tongue in cheek is a theme in vetements' design. putting "haute couture" on a ready to wear cotton hoodie is in line with their aesthetic

Vetements is what happens when /fa/ the board becomes a clothing brand. It's fantastic, you're just too dumb to realize it.

aside from the corporate pieces (like the dhl shit), i like the brand. the deconstructed jeans, jackets, hoodies, t's are cool. im glad the hype is dying down so im going to pick up a couple of pieces on sale
