popular brand that is known for athletic wear which would include track suits. which would also include velour track suits. an absolute staple of the look. it's consistent with the general style of a north jersey mafioso. you have the pleasure of not having to go to work so you dress as you please. wife-beaters, track suits, ridiculous colors, shorts (a don even)

anything sopranos info i'm you're guy

Because unlike nike, adidas, puma or umbro its an italian brand.

File's not Italian, it's South Korean. If that's the case they should be wearing Kappa.

You fucking gamook, companies PAY to have their products in movies and television, from clothes down to soda. Have you ever noticed that in every 'blockbuster' every single car is from one major brand? Advertising is everywhere

they actually aren't cases of product placement if you know what that term means. product placement is often used by shows and films in order to cover costs. corporations will provide free stuff if you're willing to showcase their products. but fortunately for the sopranos it was an HBO show. and it took off immediately. so budget was simply not an issue and no expense was spared

>There’s no deeper meaning.
the sopranos happens to be about people for whom bling means just about everything, despite all their talk about maintaining old-fashioned family values. it's a show about people in a strictly hierarchical social structure (organized crime, the mob, La Cosa Nostra) who pursue crass, vulgar, conspicuous consumption as a signal to others that they're advancing their station in life. their lives are all about "product placement"

the series also attempts to serve as a time capsule in terms of pop culture. and pop culture is wall-to-wall branding

Fair point yeah, I meant more that specifically, the brand Fila didn't have deeper meaning to it. I'd say they just chose it because its a popular brand who opted for a product placement, so it fit the role.
