Thinking of dishing out on a bottle of Aventus after really enjoying a sample, but the whole batch code/reformulation debate is making me hesitant. Is it just a mixture of anosmia and autism that is leading people to slate the new batches? Would it still be worth it even if the batch happens to brecent?

If you're worried about batches then you're better off buying a 2.5 or a 4 oz because those are still the older batches before Creed changed it to 1.7 and 3.4oz and supposedly reformulated. I have a 4oz from 2016, 8-10 hour performance even though I go anosmic after an hour.

Its a very unique and nice fragrance. Its a fresh natural smelling fragrance, but its expensive as hell and IMO not worth the price. If you are looking for something natural smelling and fresh aura look for the "Un Jardin" collection from Hermes. They don't smell much alike, but have the same natural and fresh vibe.

But at least get a sample of NP because its a interesting frag and kinda hard to understand its complexities. If you are a beginner, start by Mugler Cologne (im going to get alot of hate for that) since its a simple, cheap frag and has alot of neroli on it.

>>13412508
Dylan blue is a plebcore tier frag. Very synthetic and brings nothing different to the market of mens fragrances.

Don't blind buy, its a mass appealing fragrance but not for everyone.

>>13412513
It's a really nice fragrance. Easily an 8/10 fragrance
Girls may like it, but usually they don't enjoy sweet/creamy frags as we do. Go for something more generic/aquatic/mass appealing frag if you're looking for compliments.

Best oriental/gourmand on the planet, imo. Boozy (inb4 autism) cola with a beautiful jasmine note, and one of the best, most natural smelling vanilla notes I’ve ever smelled. As a bonus, it lasts forever. I get 10-12 hours from the EDP, and it lingers on clothes basically until I wash them.

Aquatics.

Rightfully shit on as being generic, but they do perform well in heat and humidity. However if you wear one you risk smelling like every other guy.

What to do?

Dig a little, find an aquatic with a twist.

Try Fan de Fendi Aqua and Polo Blue EDP, they have a similar twist: Leather in an aquatic. Blue EDP has suede, Fendi has a darker leather similar to Bvlgari Man in Black. The leather notes make them a little more mature than the average aquatic and way more depth.

The birch has been removed or decreased in strength for the past two or three years, that's why the new batches are more fruit forward.

>having to doctor a product that sells for $4 per mL
No other company makes its customers jump through such hoops in search of product consistency. It's incredible that they have such rabid loyalty among a certain portion of the fragrance community.

With that said, my two bottles of genuine Aventus each varied in their proportions of fruit and birch, and each bottle's individual character changed with age. I now have all versions of the Pineapple Vintage line except for Beyond Noir, and I layer them according to my mood. PV Intense is a perfectly idealized modern Aventus, heavy on the fruit with even more pineapple than the original and just enough birch to register as Aventus. Intense Noir features the same core and adds something completely unique - actual smoke, as in burning wood, campfire smoke, rather than "smoky" birch tar. I was really turned off by this at first, but holy shit the longevity and the sillage of the Intense Noir version are off the charts. A few sprays from my new bottle on a test blotter had my entire home smelling of Aventus for three days. And when sniffed at range rather than up close, the campfire nature of the smoke fades away and just becomes part of the characteristic "Aventus" accord. A very neat trick.

I wouldn't say that I'm totally over Aventus but I don't see myself buying any more bottles once my remaining 2 ounces are spent. There are just too many strong alternatives within its genre now, and an entire range of high quality clones.

Despite being a meme in this isolated frag community, it's not really well known outside.
Fragrances are used by approximately 10% of the men, and most of those frags are sauvage, ysl and other goods you can take in your local sephora.

Aventus is a solid perfume with an exotic mix of notes not familiar to the public. Take it if you are fond of this.

There are plenty of different takes on Aventus, my favorite ones are Orion by Tiziana Tirenzi for winter and Cedrat Boise by Mancera for summer.
You may check Heroique, Royal Vintage as well.
Each of them is not a "clone", more like "inspired by" frags.

In my opinion, you should start with different groups of frags and find few well received by the general public on fragrantica and basenotes.
The picture below OP is a nice way to start, you will train your nose and become familiar with isolated notes and their mixes with each other (i.e. raspberry+leather, cardamon+cedar etc).
Then you might understand what you like and what you don't and why (for me, I can't stand fucking honey in frags, even in extremely well-done ones).
And also I would not recommend you to buy full bottles asap, give it some time, you will most likely regret your first purchases.

tl;dr train your nose.

I think most middle aged women wouldn't care for the nuances and how much like skin it smells like. The average fragrance consumer likes putting on perfume because it makes her feel special and "dressed up". Narciso Rodriguez for her does a better job of channeling the same vibe, but it's more complex and like I think would make a woman feel more attractive/sexy.

Thoughts on a sweet smelling summer fragrance? Perhaps casual. Limit is about 100 dollars I guess, but it can be cheap as well. Thanks.

i originally had BdC EDT gave it to my pops, tried the EDP in store and liked it and bought teh parfum version and felt a disappointed as it didnt smell like edp. I think im anosmic to BdC or something. get the parfum if you can swing the price vs edp.

WRITING IN CAPS ON 4CHAN.

I'm not good with girls, I'm 5'6 and just average.. I saved money for 9 months to go for a blind buy of Aventus. My last frag was 8$ and before that even less, I never thought of putting a nice frag.
However, the Creed Aventus bottle is the best thing I've ever bought, I put it in the morning and wow..girls never ever talked me but yesterday one girl asked me for my frag. At the subway I was looked upon twice by a girl.
Honestly, guys if you want to buy anything, just save for months or maybe a year and buy an Aventus. Just buy the real masterpiece. It affects the personality, made me a a bit more confident because I'm wearing the right thing and not some knock off or clone. It's really worth every dollar!
Having said that I thank you all from /frag/ and lot's of YTbers.
