Been wearing this for a few days now. Not typically into fruity florals, but the angelica and tuberose give this a different vibe.

5-6 hours of strong projection, and lasts for 10-12 hours.

CDNI is fucking garbage. I use it as an air freshener after I take a shit. That is the only value I can get from it. I dont understand how anyone could want to smell like that. Anyone who thinks it is actually close to Aventus needs to fuck off because this thread is for those with a sense of smell.

Let's continue! Post your sotd lads!

Posted about it past thread, but this is mine. This is an amazing aquatic. The only aquatics I own are amongst waves and special blend, usually just not my favorite scent. Always reminds me of a swamp or something.

This is like a cool, floral breeze by the ocean. It's what I imagine a mountain range next to a beach might smell like. Really great overall, and lasts a long time.

Wore this today in 85 degree weather. Most Varvatos frags have piss poor longevity, but this one got me 7+ hours and was noticed / complimented well after lunch. Not bad! It's a lush smelling woody citrus with an unusual opening. Very fresh, and a suitable replacement for more expensive and generic stuff like Mandarino di Amalfi.

I wasn't expecting to care for it, but it was a good price and I haven't bought a fresh fragrance in a while. I get the comparisons to BdC and DS, but I honestly like it better than both of them. A. You pulled that out of your ass,
B. While I have no doubt that a huge number of fragrances sold online are fake, that’s still misleading. If you use the proper sites, you’re not getting fakes. Those statistics are inflated because sites like eBay and Amazon make up such a massive percentage of online purchases and both of those sites are notorious for bootleg goods of all kinds.

If you’re buying fragrances off FragranceBuy, fragrancenet, luckyscent, etc., you’re not getting fakes.

Anyone anons into layering here? Often looked down upon even by aficionados, I find it to be the most exalted way of wearing a fragrance, given it's done in a proper manner. In the following I'll share five of my most successful creations. They are not meant to be olfactory fashion accessories, nor do they aim at pleasing people in general. Instead, they are veritable odeurs d'art, evocating unusual, at times outright disturbing sensations, situations and characters.
Cat hoarder: Salvador Dali pour Homme layered with Serge Lutens Mucs Koublai Khan
Dresden 1945: Farina 1709 layered with Olivier Durbano Black Tourmaline
Instawhore in Arabia: Chanel Eau Tendre (2/4) layered with Montale Aoud Cuir d'Arabie (1/4) and Etat Libre d'Orange Secretions Magnifiques (1/4)
Migrant vessel incident on the Mediterranean Sea: Caron Yatagan (1/5) layered with BeauFort 1805 Tonnere (1/5) and Eau d'italie Jardin du Poete (3/5)
Scandal in the Vatican: Guerlain Petit Guerlain (2/3) layered with Amouage Jubilation XXV (1/3)

a word of advice from someone who decanted bottles to trim my collection: it is worth it to get syringes. a lot of decanters suggest spraying right from the bottle into the vial with a half-spray to get a stream instead of a spray, but i dont know how they tolerate it desu. some bottles the button doesnt really work so easily, it can a few tries to get it right, you miss alignment into the new bottle, and all the misfires end up fumigating your house for the next day and half. syringe is simple, precise, faster, and less messy. you can order from online medical supply shops easily, get a larger gauge needle.

dont use the same syringe on different bottles, youll contaminate the fragrance. also dont decant unless you plan to dispose the bottle. i remove the entire atomizer mechanism entirely and draw from the bottom of the bottle with the syringe. in some instances i hadto use a pliers to mangle aluminum off the glass bottle. whenever i decanted i split my fragrance between 10ml, 5ml, and 2.5ml vials. i kept a couple 10ml vials for myself and sold the others. i used a 15 gauge at least, maybe 10? order some in different sizes and see which one works

What does civet smell like? I read frags like kouros yves saint have civet as top note

>> No.13366818

>>13366800

Legit civet when dosed properly is more warm and has a nice effect to florals, especially when used in a parfum concentration. When used in lighter concentrations and is more diffusive, it can smell slightly pissy, but not really in a bad way.

Synth civet tends to be sharper and actually more "animalic" by comparison, far less smooth. If it isn't used judiciously it can throw everything out of balance.

This applies to tincture used in fragrances, raw civet paste and civet absolute itself is extremely feral, the way it is tinctured and how diluted you make it can vary the pleasantness drastically.

If you're especially peeved by poor performance I'd recommend staying away from citruses. Note de Yuzu by Heeley is the longest lasting citrus I've tried, pushing 6 hours, but I wouldn't personally recommend the scent. Very much a synthetic, cleaning product smell to me.

Look into freshy fruits instead, or lighter florals if you don't find them too feminine. I'd recommend Philosykos or Olfactive Studios Flashback for fruits and Fort and Manle Fatih Sultan Mehmed or Dusita Erawan for florals.

Just giving my 2 cents on CDNI. I have a 2015 bottle of Aventus and was curious what the difference was to the most popular clone. I ordered a bottle for 30 bucks and immediately hated the harsh initial blast but the dry down was very similar to Aventus with a little more of a synthetic-ness but the killer was the performance wasn't close. I can get good projection with Aventus for like 8 hours but only like 2 hours with CDNI. I probably won't use the stuff much and will just bite the bullet and get another bottle of Aventus.

Asked my girlfriend what she thought of some different frags I have. She is a total pleb when it comes to this stuff so I thought it was funny.

The good:
La Nuit de L’Homme
>smells like my laundry detergent
Aventus
>delicious
Tuscan Leather
>Drake has a song about it
Le Labo Bergamote 22
>smells like an orange peel

The bad:
Le Labo Vetiver 46
>cardboard or cheap wood
Le Labo The Noir 29
>fig newtons
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
>alcohol
Tom Ford Oud Wood
>weird
Tom Ford Tobacco Oud Intense
>60 year old man
Tom Ford Italian Cypress
>90 year old man
Green Irish Tweed
>landscapist

So should I break up with her?
