The "Don't buy the made in Thailand/China version" -talk you tend to hear when people talk about Dr. Martens is actually true. Here's my DrM1461mono after 7 months of daily wear. I have to admit, the weather conditions have been harsh at times and I could have taken better care of them, but still, after 7 months they already look somewhat brutal. Although after applying some conditioner and cream they still look sharp.

If you only wear them when the weather conditions are right and use them a bit more sparingly, they'll obviously look better than pic. I do however think that the 'results' are brutal for only 7 months of wear. This will be my last pair of Dr Martens, but I think they're a great entry-level derby. I love the look of them, and will be upgrading to maybe Trickers next. But yeah, if you plan to buy these just go for the Made in England or Solovair I guess?

I hate to be that guy, but you really aren't supposed to wear ANY shoes (no matter how durable) every single day. The leather needs time to breathe, and I'm sure this would have something to do with that sole cracking as well.

All the same, I'm not defending Dr. Martens at all - there are certainly better quality shoes out there. In terms of leather, I hate how shiny and plasticity modern Docs can look.

The DM chunky silhouette is a meme, like Ramones from Rick Owens. If that's what you want, then go for it.

If you want good shoes that are modern and not memes, then look elsewhere, buy something Made In Italy with quality materials or at least Portugal. You can get handmade shoes from Bosnia that are at least made with care and with local quality leathers.
