Sure suede may get dirty easier than say a leather shoe, but they bring other advantages like creasing isn't as noticeable and comfort. IMO suede shoes are comfier, they form to your foot better and the material is more giving.

Like anything there are different levels of quality. There's shit suede and there's buttery goodness.

Maintenance might be higher with suede, just research how to clean them, try to avoid getting them wet, wear something else when it rains. Clean them with a suede brush. Anyone that doesn't like suede is too lazy to clean their shoes or can't comprehend having more than 1 shoe to wear...

I have a pair of original GATs and I'd say they are plenty comfortable. It really depends on what you are looking for. If you just want comfort and don't give a fuck about anything else just get something made out of a lightweight fabric mesh, not proper hall shoes that were made to protect and support your feet while you are sportsing.
