Copped the last remaining bottle of Special Blend at my local Macy's today. The sales team were really friendly and offered me a sample of the upcoming AdG Absolu. I have the Absolu on paper right now, giving it a good sniff before applying a post shower evening scent.

Absolu has a more easy-going feel to it than Profumo or Essenza. There's a certain amber fuzziness to it that dominates sniffs unless I breathe on the paper or wave it around assertively. Otherwise I definitely pick up some AdG style marine notes, jasmine, and probably bergamot. I've never smelled Invictus Aqua but I own Mont Blanc Legend Spirit, which is often compared to it. This makes me think of Spirit for wealthy grown ups, swapping out the pineapple for hedione(?) I'll have to give it a full skin wear and report back this weekend. It would probably be ideal for Easter gatherings.

Scent of the evening: Special Blend

Essentially exactly the same, the patchouli is from somewhere different, which if you believe people the talk about ingredient source, makes it smell a bit different.

Personally, I do think it smells a bit softer, especially the opening notes. The performance seems a bit different too. Wouldn't buy it unless you need an entirely new bottle.

As for why people are buying it, yes, it's probably to do with Jeremy/spring time coming up.

I sniffed Special Blend when buying Bleu EdP in store and wanted a bottle. I thought I could sleep on it until it hit fragrancenet at a discount price the same way I copped Spicebomb Eau Fraiche, another Macy's exclusive. Jeremy ruined that plan for me so I had to buy at retail now. Hopefully Armani give it a wide release later, but there's no guarantee that'll happen.

>just gave it to me cause he thinks he'll never get around to wearing it
>autisticly hesitate to accept it because I know he keeps his frags in the bathroom and I fear that they'll have already degraded from the warmth/humidity

can a frag be ruined by being in a bathroom for just three months, even if it's in the box the whole with the wrapping still intact? i tell myself he takes short showers and leaves the door open so there's less humidity but still I fee like I'm worrying about it like a retard

think about the transport of goods in america. how does ADG profumo get to you? On a semi or FEDEX truck. They aren't insulated for heat. In the summer, the cologne is sitting in the back of of scorching hot trucks for days at a time.

And you're worried about 5 minutes of slightly above average heat.

If the box isn't damaged by the humidity, the juice won't be. It's fine you autist.

the shower is only going for 5-10 minutes. the heat is only elevated in the room for mere seconds of that. so maybe a couple minutes total. even under the generous estimate of 450 minutes that you gave, that's only 7.5 hours. that's way less than the exposed time in even one trip it might get in the summertime. even then it's probably well under 80 degrees, which is considerably better conditions for cologne than the 100+ degrees that they undergo in transport regularly.

tldr: quit being a bitch, it's fine. people say not to keep it in your shower because they'd be unsealed and over the course of many many YEARS the juice might get damaged. 3 winter months is fucking nothing.

I was gifted a bottle a while back. While it is more complex than it first seems, the longevity is absolutely terrible. It's smoother, more radiant and I get more blossoms than your average cologne water. The Clary sage gives it a nice refreshing crispness and the lavender is toned down enough not to be rustic. But still, it disappears from my skin in 20 minutes flat. I must be in the minority because fragrantica has it with lots of votes in the long lasting category.

not sure what you mean by making sense doing alone. EOs are powerful and you only need a small quantity. just blend some essential oils in alcohol for spray or fractionated coconut oil to make a roll-on. buy your favorite notes, do a little math to make the concentration (~5% edc, 10-15% edt, 20-30% edp) and experiment.

my results were very amateurish and i often used far too many notes even though it seemed like less compared to most fragrance compositions. natural EOs also are often described as being "brown" or "green" collectively, the projection is rather flat and the longevity short compared to synthetic ingredients.

CDNIM is really sour for awhile, and then turns into pretty much plain smokieness. I don't personally enjoy it, and every woman I know doesn't.

IP2 is more fruity, primarily apple, and a very subtle smoke. I think it smells good on other people and other people like it on me, but it's unpleasant to wear due to being screechingly synthetic. Its longevity is also pretty poor.

These two are in no way comparable to Aventus, and you can get way better stuff for an extra $20 or so. I assume most of the people eyeing these are new and are forming judgements from things they see from plebs and shills on YouTube.

If you want something resembling Aventus and really can't afford the real thing, this is a good alternative: https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Parfums-Vintage/Pineapple-Vintage-Intense-45249.html

Not that this has anything to do with which one smells closest to Aventus, anyway.

Dior Patchouli Imperial should also be on your list. More or less a patchouli chypre with supporting sandalwood. Ranges from earthy to sweet as the wear progresses. Honestly flawless and the scent that made me fully appreciate patchouli.

Mancera Patchouli Leaves is worth sniffing. Possibly on the sweet side of things depending on what you're after, as it features some vanilla and amber. You do get plenty of the patchouli grunge, though, unlike some other sweet patchouli copouts. Monster longevity and projection. My number three patch but one of my most used as it's so easy to wear.

People say “don’t wear sauvage, everyone has it you’ll smell like everyone else” but realistically how many people (specifically men) actually use fragrance? Especially considering I’m in my early twenties. I never really smell sauvage where I’m from. Same with Dylan blue and that one is supposed to be super popular.

>> No.13272654

>>13272640
Not many, to be honest. Maybe some have a bottle they bought like 10 years ago that they wear on dates, but I’d say a fairly small percentage of men wear fragrance regularly.

>> No.13272656

>>13272640
depends entirely where you live. If you're in lower Manhattan, probably a lot of men are wearing (some) cologne and a lot of them are possibly wearing Sauvage. This is particularly apparent when you go to clubs or active bars and you can tell most men there are wearing the same 2-3 trendy club fragrances of the year/season.

One thing worth noting: while not that many guys actually wear fragrance, a lot of them do wear the same popular scents. This is because they usually don’t know fragrance very well and just buy whatever the girl at Sephora (who is probably getting told to push certain scents) tells them is good.

This is why scents like Sauvage, BDC, etc are so common. Most guys don’t give a fuck and just want something that smells generically nice, and just buy the first thing they’re shown.

>> No.13272740

almost every guy in a club will have some type of cologne or perfume on, and that's where most of the morons who shill sauvage are going to use it.
