Anyone else have bottles you can't stand that completely disqualifies you from buying from a house/brand?

Amouage is back and forth for me, sometimes I hate the bottles and sometimes I love them.

Pic related though, I will never ever own. Even if the scent is perfect for me (okay fine, maybe a decant). I can't stand these tacky bottles/packaging though.

I perceive more incense from the EdT than from the EdP. However, I also see the EdT as more of a summer scent. It's the heavier woods and amber of the EdP that make it more of a mild weather scent to me. Ultimately you will probably want to sample both extensively if you're unsure and can only afford one. Personally, I love both and am hoarding large bottles of each.

Tell me /frag/, what's that go-to scent of yours that you know will always get you the most positive attention – the one you know will always make a stellar impression. Could be your signature or most complimented or one you only break out for special occasions. Doesn't matter.

So I’m a noob to fragrances but I’ve sampled a fair amount and have read that one infograph that always gets posted so I think I kinda understand what works. But I’m having trouble choosing something to be my first fragrance. My main issue is I ask myself “when am I actually gonna wear this?” I’m a student at a university but I feel like wearing a fragrance to class is out of place and wearing one to parties would call for something different than something more formally suited. So I guess I’m just kind of looking for a really functional and versatile fragrance that is still somewhat unique. I’ve been researching Gucci Pour Homme II and it seems close to what I would want

I disagree with the first point. Sure, a lot of extraits are not projection heavy (disregarding the fact that these are in fact, eau de parfums and therefore are expected to be sillage strong), the previous generations were all extremely sillage strong. I have two bottles and tried samples from the two previous generations to prove this.
Also, your point about not trusting reviews- where does this end? You seem to be dismissing offhand reviewers who have personally tried the fragrances to justify your own conceptions about the fragrance. Sure, the hype may have influenced them, but having smelt Siberian Musk before makes them experienced about what the range was and only makes them more, not less, qualified to judge the newer releases, if anyone can.

I will say that on basenotes, the average feedback on Russian Musk has been average to negative. For a majority of the reviewers.

>> No.13248050

No they are all extraits 25-30%.

The reason for the first wave having more impact is because they contained more aromachems that we as a western audience have become accustomed to, which is another factor. If you actually recheck most of the harshest critics are coming around to the scent after trying it multiple times and taking time to understand. I am not dismissing them but at first there was a knee jerk reaction rather than an analytical one, kafka did it proper.

It's exactly as named. All incense, and not much else. The incense actually has a bit of a green citrus / fir note to it; it's not a nag champa stoner hippie incense but not a pure Catholic church incense, either. Closer to the latter. Performance is normal Montale, 8 hours plus.

I own and prefer Silver Bond, which is a heavier woody incense fragrance, done in that aforementioned stoner incense style. In the same price range as the Montale you also have Bentley Absolute, which features an incense note similar to Full Incense, paired with cedar, resins, and sandalwood. I just find both more compelling than the clinical FI.

Still, it's a very solid perfume. I blind bought my 50ml for $31 on fragnet in January and would cop again. They get a lot of Montales at that price lately so keep an eye out.

Answer: You wouldn't.
A sensible person would stay away from it. So much more you could do with the same amount of money. There are really interesting and extremely well crafted fragrances out there for a fraction of the price.

Personally GIT lasts longer on my skin. Like significantly longer. I don't really like bringing around an atomizer to school because I don't want to freshen up and then smell like a cologne guy or whatever.

Also GIT imo is a little greener and fresher, as opposed to the aquatic. It is pretty subtle though. I hate to drop a meme word, but there's a few notes that come off as synthetic to me in the opening, just a little metallic and kinda puts me off.

It's not a huge deal or anything I feel like I could live with both, but there you go

I need some help finding a summer fragrance m8s
I'm looking for something flowery with maybe some tea notes, some citrus, perhaps even some fresh fruit, some vetiver is okay with me too
Unisex (or just not as masculine as Eau de sauvage) prefered

I've only tried these
>L'eau d'issey couldn't stand this at all for the first hour, dry down was kind of okay
>ADGs I kind of like these but I smell this on a lot of people already
>eau sauvage dig only the top notes desu
>aventus I can't stand the smoke
>TF grey vetiver This one I like a lot but it's just so sharp. Maybe because it's not summer here yet, not sure how it perfoms with moderate heat

I'd appreciate any recs you throw at me

People just don’t seem to get it. Memes are memes and that’s fine, but if you’re just shitposting all the time, then there’s no content, and the general just dies. Everyone thinks it’s hilarious to be the guy who posts the Eros meme, or the list of buzzwords meme, or whatever each thread, but they don’t seem to realize that shit takes up space. If everyone just posted one shitpost each thread, the threads would be nothing but shit.

Memes must be used sparingly, otherwise you’re just pissing in an ocean of piss.

It doesn't always change the scent btw. I believe hanae mori HiM is a case of that. GENERALLY, EdT's don't last as long but they project more, while EdP's don't always project as much but last longer. (Again, this isn't a hard and fast rule, partally some bro science.)

I seem to recall the EdP being an actually different scent though, IE it features Iris and is more like La nuit + DHI. Overall if you can return it and wanna try the EdT, go right ahead. But if you like it, just keep it senpai. We all start somewhere.

Tea Citrus: Gucci Pour Homme II
Fresh Fruit: Check out the Hermes Jardin line (and other stuff from Hermes for citrus generally)

Atelier has some citruses people like and they're available to try at every Sephora, but I haven't tried. Diptyque also does some good fragrances but I don't know them well enough to suggest off the top of my head.

Completely wrong. EdPs were specifically formulated in the 80s with the powerhouse fragrances in mind. They were meant to announce your presence before you entered the room, ala Opium- loud and strong.
You are thinking of extrait/ (pure) parfum

Yo, I'm a newfag looking for a fragrance. I think I have an interest for the "gourmet" meme. I went to a store a few weeks ago and got a few samples. I tried Y by YSL, was fine but didn't last long. Also tried on L'eau d'Issey, but wasn't a fan. I think 2 of my friends already have La Nuit so I don't think I'll get this one. I'm thinking about Rochas, but I don't know if it's good for an everyday wear. Any suggestion?
