>Is X techwear?
It can include but is not limited to a number of aesthetics and brands:
• Tech Ninja/Cyberpunk (ACRNM, ACG, Guerrilla Group, Y-3)
• Activewear (NikeLab, Adidas, Gyakusou)
• “Gray Man” (Unobtrusive) (Veilance, Outlier)
• Outdoors (The North Face, Patagonia, Arc’teryx)
• Military (Arc’teryx LEAF, Triple Aught Design, Surplus)
Post news, inspo, and fits. Start flame wars, berate each other anonymously and have fun.

Updates and additions to the beginner's guide will be soon.

I've been in to technical clothing and what was formerly known as techwear my entire life but the more I try to understand the internet trend "techwear" the dumber it seems

>> No.13181313

>>13181291
Techwear is not one single movement, but is instead a collection of movements. Beginning from Cyberpunk literature, outdoors clothing technology innovations, influences from the likes of Massimo Osti, and eventully Errolson Hugh's domination of the aesthetic of urban techwear.

Simply put, your confusion probably stems from trying to define 'techwear' in one sentence. There are too many deviations, styles, and philosophies to claim any one aspect is the definition of techwear; yet all follow a line of taking advantage of clothing technology.

>> No.13181324

>>13181313
>Simply put, your confusion probably stems from trying to define 'techwear' in one sentence
No not really if anything, I feel like stems from the fact that the internet movement of techwear is trying to do exactly that, put it in to some weird ass stylistic box and excluding things seemingly arbitrary reasons and including things seemingly without any context to techwear.

Are these techwear?

>> No.13182731

I'm into techwear, but I think that techwear tends to have bulkier silhouettes and I'm more into the SLP aesthetic. I really want to incorporate tech or functional clothing into my wardrobe.

What kind of outerwear can you guys recommend? How about footwear and maybe even accessories?
Are there any rings that are techwear approved, for example? I currently just wear a silver band.

>> No.13182901

>>13182731
if you like slp then theres lots of slim silhouette you can play around with. not even just acronym coats, but lots of great long jackets out there that have the same elongated slim silhouette like a m65 parka that you can build off of. especially if you have slim trousers (Check veilance or outlier) and boots like the slp combats. techwear doesnt have to be all baggy even though that tends to be the most common

>> No.13183215

>>13182901
This is pretty much what I was going to say.

I also suggest just going through the brands list on a boring Sunday and seeing what sticks out to you.

>What kind of outerwear can you guys recommend?
Read the tutorial to get an understanding of jacket properties and types. From there you can look at all those brands like Veilance and have an appreciation for what is appropriate for certain conditions or what layers.

>How about footwear and maybe even accessories?
Athletic shoes and boots are your best friend. Visvim is highly rated, and there's countless sports shoes that fit the aesthetic.

>Are there any rings that are techwear approved, for example? I currently just wear a silver band.
No one in techwear will nitpick that too much. For a more cyberpunk feel Guerrilla Group is the only """""Tech"""""" company that has rings.

I already wear Outlier Slim Dungarees that I have heavily tapered for the kind of SLP fit I want. I have some black sidezips from SLP and am looking to get some footwear that I can use more casually. I was thinking about Rick sock boots since I can put my pants over them, also considering BBS x Salomon boots in black.
Any footwear off the top of your heads that have a considerably slim silhouette like Wyatts?
Thanks for everything boyz

Hey /utg/ just dropping in for advice. I wear a lot of old wool and canvas and shit for my daily style, very far removed from "techwear" but still something you might see in cyberpunk media (for instance, on a character whose schtick is fending off nihilism/transhumanism by practicing old world traditions, guy who just came out of deep freeze hundreds of years in the future, that sort of thing). I also enjoy camping and backpacking, and I have a separate, smaller set of clothing for /out/ activities: light, thin, high tech fabrics in form-fitting, high-mobility cuts. Nearly the polar opposite aesthetic from what I wear day to day, but both are appealing to me. Now and then I'll swap pieces between them. I guess this could be called "tech-trad" or some shit. Anyway, I'm curious to know if you have any thoughts on the intersection between these two seemingly disparate types of clothing.

>reddit spacing to delineate second topic

I'm also looking for a new pair of quick-drying synthetic trail-worthy sneakers to give me a lighter alternative to my waterproof off-trail boots. I would like to find some /utg/-approved sneakers, ideally all black/grey with nice toothy lug soles, yet still decently light and flexible. I saw a few pairs from Adidas and Nike that I'm considering.

these threads would benefit from the WAYWT threads in the outlier/veliance/MW/TAD subs. Some of the top accounts (youngsatchel, branespload, etc) have some great fits and at least on outlier you have the brand's creator regularly explaining his fabric and design choices.

I think that the intersection of those two mediums is the true beginning of techwear, where it went from there has many different stories and beginnings but at the heart of it, techwear is the melding of outdoors technology and the clothes we choose to wear (be it for fashion, sports, etc.) Traditional Techwear is a valid style, carve your own path and see where you end up.

I love my Adidas Terrex Agravic shoes and On Cloud Cloudventures.

tech wear is cool but obviously fucking stupid, i live in a major city but almost never see anyone wearing shit like this unless they are walking around high fashion areas and most of the time they are degenerate looking fucks in their 20s probably surviving off their parents cash.

i just can't think of a less applicable trend than urban tech--wear as it has no real utility for any day-to-day part of life that isn't a massive inconvenience unless you want people to think you are a fuccboi when you are walking round tescos on a saturday night.

>> No.13204767

as if techwear is anyless practical or has anyless utility than normal fashion does.
classic techwear is supposed to be a blend of practical utility and regular fashion, (see: geography student core), modern techwear is prettymuch all for looking scifi but even then its still more practical than most fashion styles.

of course in unfashionable areas you wont see people wearing it because you wont see anyone wearing anything fashionable at all

its definitely a 'tech' jacket,
i like your slacks which are techninja mobility status
and also the simple black shoes.
nice scarf but i dont like the hat cause its cheap and the scarf only happens to be an okay design but the material is clearly cheap too.
i understand not wanting to drop money on ACRNM but a nice ACG Nike Jacket would be better material than that northface and would give your overall look a better appeal.
The red hat would be nice if it was similarly plain in texture like the rest of your outfit and was a darker red not that cheap red materal from china lol. understand? thats a rating/critique for you.

super gay. sorry ilove you and hate you at the same time thats how i am. Jesus christ said to be usefully compassionate. Life is not only about trying to be nice to people who you wish to grow and succeed but to maybe even hurt them and push them to grow and succeed. that is true compassion. to be able to sacrifice your own short term life (when you get mad about my criticism), for another persons future. The thing is this place is anonymous and i could shit on you and just leave and you could figure that all out on your own. thing is im a nice guy. listen mate your outfit is trash because you forgot what really makes an outfit look good. contrast and color (this basically gives off your personality). the funny thing is the way you ahve put this outfit together is also a window into your personality. I see that you like techwear mate but do you really look as cool as those people whom you've possibly seen wearing these items? no. the main reason is because you are not just a really tall person who can wear anything and make it look great. thats just a sad part of life. the genetic lottery that we all enter.
1.Jacket is too big for you. Consider a different jacket that naturally tapers your body and isnt huge
2. Everyone needs to work out in this board lmfao because they all have twink ankles. did you know women subconsciously assess your social worth/attractiveness based on the width/thickness of the shin/calf area? leg day!
3. wheres the color and your personality
4. why are these all meme items
5.low effort yet looking for attention? or genuinely think there something to appraise here? if its criticism you want, well here it is.
6.wow dat white shirt coming from underneath le ebig white black contrast. how original would it really have been if you just wore red underneath there like the red on your shoe? probably not really at all but it still would look better than this boring shit. lol sorry again
