i have samples of ambre sultan by lutens and casbah by piguet from "first in fragrance". i really like them so last week i ordered full bottles from notino because the prices were lower.

with 3 sprays from the bottles they both turn into skin scent after like 2 hours and the smell is completely gone after 5 hours. with 2 sprays from the samples i get a much better projection and i can still smell them after 12 hours. really makes you think

Creed is a bunch of Jews who lie about their history! If you buy their products, it’s because you’re an idiot who believes their bullshit marketing and everyone will look down their noses at you! It couldn’t possibly be that you just like their scents and don’t care about that shit!

...seriously, though, I love MI and Royal Water. VIW is nice too, but I do think it’s a bit simplistic for the price. Smells kinda like something your girlfriend would buy and Bath and Body Works or something. If you can get it cheap, though, it’s nice.

Royal Oud is a pretty great woody-fresh daytime fragrance. I also really enjoy Original Vetiver, which is frequently overlooked or dismissed as a soapy Mugler Cologne derivative. OV has an herbal, grassy depth to its heart and base that sets it apart from others in the same category.

Not a fan of Millesime Imperial, though I own a bottle. I find its muskiness cloying for warm weather and don't think to reach for it on mild days.

Just ordered Bois du Portugal as it's been discontinued. We'll see how that one works out.

Just added these two to my winter rotation. I wanted a really solid performer so I bought pure malt, and then encre noire extreme was just to add some variety to my winter rotation, but wonderwood didn't really "do" it for me. For the most part, I have everything I really want. I think the last few things I really want to cop are Dior Homme intense, that clone of La Nuit when it goes on sale, and maybe Rocky Mountain Wood.

Currently, winter rotation consists of individuel, Hanae Mori HiM and HM, Burberry Brit and London, CK One Shock, and sometimes D&G Pour Homme. Pretty content with my current rotation though, so I might just chill for a while and get ready for the warmer weather.

Well in general fragrances as a rule are reformed every 5/6 years, not including IFRA restrictions in between or new executives wanting to cheapen the scent further and increase profit margins. If a fragrance you knew a few years back has less longevity now then it could be memory or the makers decided to change what materials they use for a few base notes (a very common change being the patchouli oil/alcohol/base/fraction), which decreases the evaporation curve. Sometimes after a reform a frag might have more projection or perhaps more longevity for the same reason, like an increase in concentration of molecules like norambrinol, or a new base product that has been manufactured.

>> No.13166614

>>13166243

Might be due to maceration. Traditionally scent makers would let the concentrate macerate and then dilute it with perfumers alcohol. Most companies these days probably splurge it out so fast that they leave out some time in the maceration process, which is why meme brands like le labour tell you to let it sit for awhile after you buy in their stores. It's related to the modern world of "services and products" laying more responsibilities and making the consumer do their jobs for them in some respects, tl;dr the consumer has to also pay for laziness or gimmicks.

Maceration in the bottle isa real thing; that's why vintages although having likely lost their top notes, smell a lot better, smoother than normal (that and stronger due to the evaporation of alcohol).
Unless you let it sit for a few months at least (in a dry, dark and stable location), it's most likely a placebo effect though.

Lots of niche fragrances you will see here don't have mass appeal and are not compliment getters. They are for people who simply appreciate perfumery. Honestly, I prefer to have appeal and for people to like the scents.

Picking a scent for day game this spring(don't care much about ofis). What I have now is Hugo Boss Bottled Intense and Cool Water by Davidoff.
So, HBBI is performing well and has it's spicy notes. Then I just smell bubblegum. The problem is I don't wear suit usually(maybe I should, I'm 26), and this scent is so dominant and even has presidential vibe, casual outfit does not fit very good.
CW is fresh and minty, smell clean and classy, I had complements with this one. The problem is the temperature, it's too low for this scent. Spring is cold and windy where here.

Thanks for reminding me to post about this.

Tried this the other day. If I didn't know the price or brand, I'd rec it 100 percent. Great performance and an extremely fresh, barber shoppy frag. This is one of the younger vetiver frags I've smelled. But if I could only buy one creed frag than I'd skip it because it isn't all that unique. I think guerlain vetiver extreme is a similar frag at a much better price. I think the biggest thing this creed frag has going for it is that it is EXTREMELY green. The top and heart remind me of a green Irish tweed with some vet in there. So if that's your thing then I think it's a good buy. Personally though I'll probably just cop vetiver extreme

As a result, when they get out into the world on their own, especially in a country that’s not India, they become super awkward with women because they think if they just ask for sex, she’s supposed to give it to them. Hence the bobs and vegana shit.

Indians also tend to be very materialistic, so they think flaunting their wealth will get them laid. That’s why they wear so damn much perfume, they think being able to smell them a block away is a sign of wealth and power.

>>13169981
Real answer: pretty much none of them in likelihood. Creed and other niche brands say they do, and as far as I am aware there is no proof to the contrary, but the reality is that ambergris is so much more expensive than synthetic replacements like ambroxan that they are almost certainly not doing so. The same goes for most other perfume houses that brag about using other "natural" ingredients. The reality is that the absolutes that are cheap are likely natural, but the absolutes that are extremely expensive (e.g. violet absolute) are almost certainly not. In this way, they are telling a sort of half-truth about their product.

>> No.13170029

Violet absolute isn't done on a large scale anymore and the guy that said he used a tiny minuscule amount in his product never told me who does it, just that it was an artisanal distillery.

I saw a price quote somewhere saying if VF absolute was to be made again, it could be anywhere from $10K-500K a kilo, but no-one is sure on the exact number because it just isn't done.

I'd say fragrances that still use the permitted amount of jasmine and rose absolutes are still authentic, but naturally they have to flesh out the few drops they are legally limited at.

Yo, stow the fedora for a sec, let me drop a little truth on you. Ok, women are people, same as men. That means, like men, sometimes, they need to be hit. I’ve been in situations where a bitch would keep hitting me, kicking me in the shins, I’d tell her to knock that shit off or I was gonna start hitting back. She’d keep going because girls expect to be able to get away with shit because idiots like you keep telling guys all their lives that hitting a woman is the scummiest thing you can do.

Well, she was wrong, and I don’t feel the least bit bad about it. An asshole is an asshole, man or woman, and sometimes, assholes gotta be checked. If you let an asshole just keep getting away with being an asshole forever, you’re just as bad as they are.

Not fucked at all, it's a decent all-round day scent for work and smart casual outfits when you don't want to use something more expensive and don't want a cheap, uninspired option either. It's not ground-breaking, original, 10/10 stuff but it's good at getting the job done without being too generic.

Sure, it's the go to fragrance of bland corporate types and men who wear whatever looks expensive without being too flashy but real entrepreneurs wear Eros and Invictus layered.

You can never go wrong with a heavy application of /fa/ Entrepreneur Extreme EDT

I got a sample of both the EDP and EDT of Grey Vetiver by Tom Ford, upon someones recommendation here.

I've been wearing the EDP and loving it, tried the EDT today and was enjoying it too.

I decided to look up prices because I was about ready to cop a bottle, and then I read a review that described the EDT as smelling like public restroom soap.

It might have ruined it for me.

Im hoping its just the EDT because of the stronger citrus notes, I'll have to try the EDP again to decide.

This ever happen to you? I don't ever wanna read a fragrance review again.

ive read reviews that took away the fun from a fragrance. amouage reflection man was described to me as a sandalwood "lush" fragrance. it's still too classy to me to be the shitty synthetic lush stuff.

Well then friendo, let me enlighten you further. Vetiver isn't a mass appealing scent so unless you are just wearing it for yourself, you are unlikely to get women going wild over it and throwing themselves at you.

I don't see why the EDT would have stronger citrus notes? an EDT just contains less of the actual perfume oil than the EDP but the notes are exactly the same. The smell shouldn't really differ, just that with an EDP because it's a higher oil concentrate it takes longer to evaporate from your skin and thus stays there longer.

The best Tom Ford fragrances are those with rose notes in, yes, really. Men stay away from rose notes but they are really seductive. Cafe Rose all the way!

>> No.13172981

>>13172923
Untrue. EDTs and EDPs often have completely different formulas. Depends on the scent, of course, Roja EDPs and Extraits are the same aside from concentration, for example, but the majority of scents available in multiple concentrations have different notes.

>> No.13172985

>>13172923
Wrong, usually EDPs will have slightly different notes than their EDT counterparts. From what I've read, the EDT of Grey Vetiver is more citrusy than the EDP in the opening. You're right about Grey Vetiver not being an appealing fragrance to women though. I feel men gravitate to it more.

Go look up almost any designer scent on fragrantica that has both an EDT and EDP version. Look at the notes. There will be differences.

They are concentrations, yes, but designers don’t typically just release and EDT and EDP version of their scents, usually, they release a scent in EDT concentration, then they will release a slightly (or sometimes radically) different version in EDP concentration.

This is the first vetiver fragrance I've tried... have you smelled it? It may not make women swoon like sauvage, but I also don't think they would turn their nose up to it... its pretty clean, fresh, and green... very inoffensive.

I mostly wear stuff for my self, but I do like to smell nice to others. Curious what make you think vetiver isn't generally appealing.

Grey Vetiver almost reminds me of green tea (which is part of the reason I like it), despite no tea note. I assume thats just the smell of vetiver, correct?

Other Vetiver suggestions are welcome. 22yo - daily use for school or in the office, probably for warmer weather.

I'm looking for a spring-summer fragrance.
I have acqua di gio but its too serious for me, the initial 30 minutes make me nauseous and it simply doesn't fit me.
I also have a bottle of eau des baux and I love it desu. So now I'm looking for a spring/summer version of EDB, something fresh and light and comfy.
Any ideas?

I can't get into Dylan Blue. It just has the sense that when people get a whiff of it it just makes people aware you are wearing cologne.

It doesn't really stand out and make you think it's something that smells really really good. I wore Eros to work and my coworkers where standing closer to me than usual.

It's already been explained, but often (especially in the Grand tradition of older houses like Chanel or Guerlain) EDTs and EDCs and Parfums have wildly different formulae. For example, the EDCs would often have hesperidic citrus notes thrown in as well as being a lighter concentration.

I have had that scent. I don't really like it.

>It may not make women swoon like sauvage, but I also don't think they would turn their nose up to it

They wouldn't run a mile no, but they are likely to think it's just OK. I like more of an impact.

>Curious what make you think vetiver isn't generally appealing.

General reviews. Vetiver based scents have never ranked as top compliment getters if I recall.

>Grey Vetiver almost reminds me of green tea (which is part of the reason I like it),

Yeah while that's great you like it, will most people find the smell of green tea appealing? I doubt it.

Like I have Tuscan leather by Tom Ford and C for Men Clive Christian so at the top end of fragrances, they are definitely niche and you have to like them, I think they smell like old tobacco men and I get 10 times more success with something such as Nautica voyage.

Yeah, I am shallow, a Jeremy Fragrance type kind of guy but smelling good can make you more attractive so I tend to play on this.

My favourite Tom Ford scent is Oud Wood which does appeal to women.
