It's a combination of versatility and value. There are a lot of good auto divers at the low end of the market (<$200 or so), and divers can be worn with a huge variety of straps and fit with just about any kind of mainstream clothing, unless it's super-formal. My first auto was an SKX and I think it was a great starting point that really let me experiment with straps and the like.

I think it fits rather well. I don't have gigantic gorilla wrists; pretty average. I have a good 1/2 inch from the tips of the lugs on either side. The dress size is something that changes periodically, so I wouldn't take it too seriously; especially when the size difference is so close as it is. Slight dome looks rockin' as well.

Further questions are needed.

How simple are we talking? Traditionally Bauhaus designed watches have no numbers, only hashes or indicators and are a mono-dial.

Do you feel the compulsion to have day, month, year, moon phase, polar direction, separate 24 hour dials or any other clutter on the dial?

Do you want numbers, roman numerals, or some other eccentric thing?

What preferred material do you like? Golds, silvers, colours, etc.

refer to this post for terms of style, i like the simple design with a leather strap

Dont care about anything like that, the simpler the better because it's not really going to be used for anything other than telling the time and improve my overall appearance. I dont mind on the numbering either, as long as it flows nicely it can be roman, normal numbers or no numbers and just lines to indicate 3/6/9/12

I think silver would look best but i'm honestly not sure, i have pretty tanned skin and i like wearing white a lot so what do you think goes best with that?

>>13099407
Because it's not like people go out one day and buy two grand worth of shitty watches. It's years of impulse buying shit here and there, and a bit of gifts from family or whatever. I have zero regrets about the Ball, but sure, I'd love to have the rest of the money back to put toward something nice, though there's a lot less there than you probably think.

Also, a decent Omega is exactly what I set out to buy when I ended up with the Ball - after a week of trawling shops in Japan I realized that I liked it more than any used Omega I'd found within my $2k or so budget and it had the benefit of being brand new and less expensive than even a ratty Seamaster without giving anything up compared to a nice one.

I'm not sure what will be next, but it sure as hell won't be some piece of bullshit - like I said, I'm trying to get rid of the shitty watches, not accumulate more of them. I've been dreaming of a Speedmaster for years but lately I'm thinking it might be an Explorer. Whatever I buy, it won't be an "investment" of any sort, I buy shit to use it and not baby it for resale value.
