I have one that's about as big as my palm and that's really the biggest I would ever do. And don't be an idiot and do a huge one for your first; start small.

Buy tattoo needles and ink offline. You can get a pack of needles and ink for about $12, and the ink is not only going to be darker and last longer than any ink bought from an art store/pen ink, it's actually meant to be used and is gonna be a lot safer.

Take care of your tattoo. Wash your hands and wear gloves while tattooing yourself, don't reuse a needle, clean it with unscented soap afterwards and keep an eye on it.

For the first day or so, it's gonna look like shit, desu. More so than professional tattoos. It'll get a bit scabby/white over, and swell. It'll look wonky. That'll pass and it'll look nice after you get past the healing process.

Seen wolves that are similar, and most don't turn out well. I would suggest getting more of the outline of it. If it turns out like shit, it will be extremely hard to cover up/conceal. Make sure your artist is good as well. Don't want any scarring/blow outs on a tattoo like this.
