Anyone have a recommendation for a casual winter fragrance? I'm kind of only getting into this. I previously liked wearing Burberry London. I tried out Armani Code Profumo and 1 Million Privé recently. I loved ACP, and I liked-ish 1 Million Privé. I'm not really sure either are a good fit for casual wear though. Average temp in the winter here is -25c if that helps. I wanted to try Pure Malt and Pure Havane but they don't have it at my local drugstore. Money isn't a massive issue, but I don't think I want to invest into a Creed or Tom Ford fragrance.

I think the "mixed kinda BO" smell came mostly from the shirt. I applied it on my body but the atomizer was kind of terrible and there's this blotch of chemical on my skin, then transferred to my shirt. Or maybe because I went outside that day and it was really hot? I didn't even sweat or anything.

I always get the sweet smell when I have two layers of clothes for some reason.

I own a bottle. Performance is actually very good with this one, probably due to high content of Iso E (it has that pervasive cedar presence). You can count on getting a full day out of standard application. I do suggest that you get a sample vial from your Sephora and give it a full wear for a few days in a row to see whether the rose note gets old to you.

Got some samples this morning few Xerjoff and parfums de Marly. I put on mefisto first, it's like smw but with some soft citrus on top. General consensus is mefisto>smw but I think I prefer that harsh icy feeling in smw. Both not bottle worthy to me anyways, considering the price I'd rather use Al wisam day.
I also put on Ivory route just now because the smell of the sample bottle reminded me of inside a church I was during christmas for some reason but I dont see any incense or anything on fragrantica notes. Now that I sprayed it on I also get a really creamy sandelwood+vanilla. This stuff is nice, I might buy a bottle some day.

I get 37 percent by starting my visit to fragnet via a Google search result. The idea is that fragrancenet knows you are comparison shopping other sites for the same product if you're coming from Google and so they give the discount that results in the price listed there. If you use the fragrancenet app or visit directly they think they can get away with making a few dollars more off of you so the default daily coupon is 25 to 33 percent.

Tobacco Vanille
Tobacco Oud

Currently on buy list:
Amouage Reflection Man
Grey vetiver

Both those feel... formal. I'm not sure where to go next. I want to cover all my bases for situations. My situation at work permits me to wear TV/TO, and the ones I'm considering feel very professional if need be. But I feel like I'm lacking some summer/spring fragrance that doesn't feel as stiffly starched-white-shirt professional as the other two.

What should I look for? Citruses have generally complemented the bodies of men in our family, in terms of more summery notes.

This isn't something you want to keep smelling. It is nice. It's better than nothing, by far. But it is a young mans first scent, the kind that is not out of place in a school corridor. I have good memories associated with it, but it's not crazy good. The reason why you'll have a hard time finding it is because it's a mass produced scent. It's far better than One Million, but has that same association. I still wear it to the gym or on days when I want to tone things down and take it easy.

I'm in the same situation, and I'm only an amateur in terms of citrusy fragrances. Here are my picks though:

>Chanel Eau de Cologne (from the Exclusifs collection)
Overpriced as it is, but it is the smoothest, most luxurious cologne you can find with a, to quote Luca Turin, "ultra expensivo musk drydown". You can find it for excellent prices on eBay normally.

>Guerlain Eau de Cologne
This was my second pick, comes with a brcing and ultra refreshing verbena and herbaceous note. I have reservations about the longevity though.

>Guerlain Vetiver
The landmark, classic, groundbreaking vetiver is still a legend. A well crafted vetiver intertwined with unsmoked tobacco. What's more, the superior gold cap version can be found on eBay cheap too.

>Encre Noire
An excellent vetiver. Earthy and rooty, wearable in both hot weather or wet and rainy. To my nose it's a 1:1 to Chanel's Sycamore.

Green frags are a great alternative to citrus colognes in summer/spring too.

>Mugler Cologne
Cheap, realistic and delicate green fragrance that once won a spot in Chandler Burr's blind masterpieces list. It's refreshing and light, and very easy to wear.

>Philosykos
A creamy-milk fig leaf, by Olivia Giacobetti, creator of the identical Figue Premiere. Coconut-like and very cheerful.

>La Feuille
A dark green leaf frag, a little more heavy because of the sandalwood thrown in. Slighlty spicy but excellent.

Hell yeah l'or got here pretty quickly. A lovely heady floral minus the fruitiness of the original EdP. Fruity florals usually turn to jam on me, but this one with just the floral elements and a lovely vanilla too, the tuberose packs a bit of a punch but this remains light enough to not be cloying. Here's my fresh X Batch with the rest of my Aventus-likes. I've sprayed it on my hand and first impression is the pineapple note from the original PV plus ambroxan. It's definitely got that Sauvage fuzziness. No bergamot or pepper though. Maybe some vanilla? It's sweeter than any of the other PVs without a hint of smoke. I'm going to give it tomorrow's full work wear and give impressions in next thread.

I think Sauvage is just ok. I asked girls what they taught of it and they all said they loved it. They also said they smelled it a lot before, and thei're right every other guy in a night out is wearing that shit, it's like adg and bdc all over again. Thus I'm not interested in smelling like 1000 other men, it's not like any woman is going to go oh this guy smells like the last 10 guys who hit on me, he has character.

Okay, I have the PVXB notes in front of me now and am doing a highly unscientific quickie four way sniff test on skin between X Batch, Juliette Has a Gun Anyway, Sauvage, and pure Ambroxan (generic Molecule 02). Sniffing X Batch and Sauvage back to back really brings out Sauvage's pepper top note, which I have never noticed otherwise. X Batch is definitely its own beast and an original work, not a clone. I haven't gotten any Aventus feelings at all from this, though that could be coming. Sauvage usually starts to remind me of Aventus about 4 hours into wear. Curiosity both piqued and sated. Tomorrow should be interesting.
>>13060926
That's about right. From memory / sniffing the sprayer its drydown is closer to Aventus than PV Noir, and about the same as PV Intense. Its opening isn't great if you're into fruity Aventus, but nice if you like smoky batches. The PV line is aptly named as it's all about the pineapple.
