You could get for a whole lot cheaper if you are looking second hand. Strongly recommend.
I'd even try the 36'000 bph Automatic if I were you. As much as I like the spring drive... It is basically a uber mecha-quartz.

I've had a vintage GS and it was exceptional. Now days I just have 2 4s15 SUS military (White and black dial)

>> No.13019002

>>13018988
Spring drive has almost nothing to do with a traditional superquartz movement (that would be the GS quartz obviously). Not that is has a lot in common with a traditional mechanical watch either.

But its superbly accurate, the seconds hand sweeps 100% smooth (no bph at all), ad is absolutely silent too.

It has a quartz cristal inside, but no battery at all, has a main spring but no escapement or balance wheel... pretty unique.

I know the argument... But I dunno. As cool as a seconds sweep is (And fuck me, it is cool) I still like a 'tick' just as quick as possible.

If you are solely after a Spring Drive theres also some Ananta models with it. I think they look hideous though.

You prefer the new GS logo or the old?

>> No.13019013

>>13019002
To clarify how it works, its got a main spring which strengh moves everything, but to regulate (reduce) the speed of it (keep time) instead of mecanical escapement ticking at x bph has a electronic device composed of a quartz crystal and an electromagnetic brake. The quartz crystal checks the speed of the hands and orders the brake to slow them as necesary to keep time (the brake doesnt touch anything being magnetic, so less wearing).

You might think that the electronic part us feed by a battery charged by movement as in a kinetic. But no, there is no battery. The rotor winds just the spring as in mechanical watches, and the unwinding of it moves but the hands amd the generator that feeds the electronic parts "live". No batteries to lose properties over time.

As there is no escapement ticking or quartz mechanism directly moving the hands the seconds hand sweeps 100% fluid and 100% silent.

Beautiful.

yes I do, it is well made.

I have owned a tag in the past, as I have owned several rolexes, and I have owned pateks, among several other luxury watches.

I do not consider tag heuer a luxury brand, aside from a few models, and maybe you do, that's up to you.

I see them as (especially the aquaracers) well made tool watches for affordable prices, I don't buy a watch because it is "luxury'', I buy it either because it serves me a purpose, or because I like it's design/complication/history.
