You should make a collage containing the best projects of this year!

Finished the brown t shirt. Have to wash it and iron it. Bought a yellow and a brown yarn in preparation of a sweater.

I got this 60's adidas jacket, and I strive to reanimate it.
It has got a few paint stains which are about 20 years old.
The zip and the velcros are broken but are replaceable.
The cuff has a large paint stain, and I'm thinking about getting both cuffs covered in reflective paint.

But I have no clue what to do with the small paint stains that are all over the jacket.
Because It's unlikely that I'll be able to remove them even with gasoline.

What could I do?
Also, I'm open to suggestions

thanks /fa/

>> No.13014863

>>13014677
You would have a hard time. A kimono collar wraps all the way around the neck to the bottom of the actual jacket, creating a sort bomber jacket effect at the neck. A regular western jacket with a collar does not do this, instead opting for an O-neck with two 90 degree angles met at the first button (and obviously a collar on top).
You could do it if you really wanted to, but I think you think it's just a matter of cutting one seam while it's a whole series of additions. I hope you decide to do it though because I'd love to see the result.

Trace a pattern for the back panel and front panels of the jacket, and then the front and rear of each sleeve onto large construction paper. Then cut it out a little larger than necessary to allow for your seams. Sew the seams together so the Sherpa fabric has the finished edge inside, as youd expect from a liner. Then, hem the sleeves. Insert the liner in and sew it at the collar, then the front panels, then the bottom of the back panel. Then sew the sleeves in.

In my experience, it's better to have a Liner Thats a little too large, because too small will pull the jacket and change how it fits.

Hey /DIY/, so I have a question for the sewers out there.

If I wanted to add fabric swatches to already made pieces (t-shirts, pullovers, etc., pic for reference) what would be the best way to do so? Would I have to do it by hand? Or can I use a machine (I would prefer this since I have a hand-me-down one, but have no prior experience sewing)?

And if I used a machine, would I have to take the piece apart first to do it? Or is there a better method? I haven't been able to find a single good tutorial online that shows this, so hopefully someone here can help.

Thanks in advance.

>>13032868
It's dead simple desu. Just iron the sides flat then sew any way you see fit. You can do it by machine or by hand but that question comes down to "do I have a machine, do I want to do it by hand, and (most importantly) can the machine fit into this specific spot"

I've done loads of patchwork before and the only times I've ever had to take a piece apart was if I was applying a patch underneath a previously existing seam, those times being patching a pocket and patching a hole on my pants on the way outside. Patching anywhere else really doesn't call for a disassembly of any kind.

If you want videos, maybe look up how to patch pants, or how to patch an old shirt. It's the same concept. Also don't be afraid to hand sew!! It's dumb easy, you just put the needle in the fabric and pull it out on the other end. Good luck my dude

Are there any /diy/ anons who are currently interning in the fashion field?

I'm having a tough time attempting to understand what I should be focusing on, as I desire to venture further into the creation of clothing pieces but I am very limited in regards to my formal artistry skills.

I would like to work in the world of fashion, but it seems like you need to be a damn good artist to get into the design schools that are worth a damn, and it seems like any schools that are seen as lesser than a place like Parsons will more than likely not land you an internship.

I went to /ic/ to explore the ways in which I could quickly improve my art skills in order to hopefully create an art portfolio that would allow me entry into a place like The New School, but it seems like if you are not posting something about Loomis figures, anime or character development then it is, more often than not, disregarded.

Can anyone in the field give me some perspective on their past as a creative? Should I go back to focusing mainly on creating my own patterns and pieces instead of learning stuff like perspective and human anatomy for drawing?

Are there any names for this other than a pre-school for design? The only things I get on Google are things for children. I've searched for things like "primer school" and many other terms to no avail.

Should I begin emailing the admissions offices at design schools for advice on the best resources for pre-study in order to build a good portfolio?

I'm enrolled in school now, but I am reluctant to take any art courses since I don't want to miss any of the art coursework. It probably sounds strange, but for once I can say that I don't want the credits for a course to transfer.
