HOW, motherfucking HOW do you style fine hair?

I have pic related as a hairstyle ever since I was a kid, it suits my face and I don't wanna change it. However, I always run into the following problem:

>No product: the wind blows it all apart very quickly, it's hard to mantain the look
>Pomade: makes my hair feel heavy and clumpy and almost never holds
>Fixing hair spray: makes it dry and also not very good hold

What is the piece I'm missing here to make it stay in place, but feel natural at the same time?

Bump. Not OP, but I've had this problem for years. If its windy, i get ugly.

Bumping because it seems everyone has the problem but no one has the solution.

I have read online that sea salt spray and water-based products may help, but I don't know.

highest hold hairspray for me (i use it for volume too though) + scrunching hair with product of choice for texture.

you have the hold the can far enough away that you dont get hard clumps of hair

i should also add that the hairspray doesn't hold unless i add texture with another product, as the straight hair doesn't really grab on anything.

sea salt spray will add texture, which is possibly why it was recommended

So the product I use before the spray should be lighter and not have a very strong hold, just to add texture?

if you already have wavy hair then its unlikely to help but if your hair is stick straight then yes.

i use a very small amount of gel (i just use it because its there, its my dads) and scrunch it into the hair

My hair is stick straight and my entire family has that kind of hair that just falls flat on the head, it doesn't stand up at all, hence this being the best hairstyle for me during my life.

Don't use shampoo as often and maybe try using a straightener to bundle those hair tips together.

I have the same hair. Recently I stopped using shampoo altogether. I conditioner occasionally and a shit ton of sea salt spray. Having long hair also helps me manage it and keep it in place.

some questions, OP: have you gone no-poo? is your hair wavy or curly? is your hair thick or not? (your pic related is actually fairly thick). try using way less shampoo and more conditioner if your hair is frizzy. have you used argan oil? i pretty much only use devacurl conditioner every once in a while and that works for me

Use a hair wax or clay to model the look you want, then apply hair spray to lock it in place.

Alright my nigga get some Aussie mousse and put some in your hair out of the shower about the size of a golf ball should do do it while the hair is damp not wet but damp and then blow dry on high I use high heat and brush your hair in the direction you want it to go (you can use a brush or hand). I use conditioner in he shower as well. Your hair will be fluffy and have some volume to it but may not be just right. From here I usually use a pea size drop of brylcreem for styling it and getting it to do what I want. Hope that helped. The mousse I use is Headstrong Volume by Aussie max hold.

Same kinda issue as OP, same hair ish. Mostly a bit straight, but wavey in some parts, particularly the front, where the tips curl a lot. Bane of my life, flyaway as fuck too. What do?
