Just bought CB I Hate Perfume's Just Breathe, got good reviews from my friends. Personally, I like it, but I'm on the fence about if it's suitable for a guy or not.

I bought Montale Black Aoud and Dark Aoud samples, thinking the sophisticated, dry, clean and slightly dark rose & wood fragrances with the elegant French flair.

But after the wear I felt they are dry spicy bombs, ruthlessly strong, certainly not suave, and more of Middle Eastern type of scent.

Is it possible that I perceived them right, just my expectations were off by a mile?

I just tried wonderwood for probably the third time today and I decided that it will be my first and my signature fragrance. I really like it, I don't usually like head notes in perfume, they are often too sharp for my liking, but the saw dusty top notes of WW are beautiful. The heart notes are a light, fresh spiciness on a base of wood that wood, and it dries to a sauvage-like cleanness.
I found Hinoki by CdG too sweet and milky for my taste, but it was really pure and beautiful.
Kyoto on the other hand did absolutely nothing for me, probably one of the worst frags I've tried on my skin, but that is of course subjective.
I haven't seen a lot of negative response to CdG, but I think its for a certain taste. Try it out.

This can be forgiven if you buy into CdG being a Japanese fashion brand and Japanese perfume sensibilities being more reserved than those of Europe and America. Haven't seen 24 Gold discussed much anymore, but I broke out my bottle again now that winter is here and /cozy/ is back on the menu.

Absolutely amazing longevity and projection on this. Without playing on the name, you can definitely get a full day and night out of two or three sprays. Clothes retain the scent for a week and even a trip through the washer if the scent is applied directly. For the current going price of $45 there is no better performance value.

What is the event itself like? A sweet amber vanilla wood, warm and lightly spiced with a light oud-y undercurrent running throughout. I wear it under a sweatshirt for comfy evenings in the winter and it's like I just sprayed it the next morning. Almost a waste to wash it off in the shower.

I work for a high end retailer so I get a lot of this stuff for free from the brand themselves so they usually give us their more popular scents to wear around.

The only brand that doesn't give us shit is Margiela but I LOVE Jazz Club, it's just so different to me and it smells classy as fuck, I really enjoy the scent and I've gotten compliments on it but I've always used it as more for myself.

I have a bottle of 24G and a sample of 24GOE, and agree with all the hyperbole thrown at this frag. Its performance is insane. Possibly the best in my wardrobe. But I get raspberry and chocolate, mostly, and throw in a little oud for the flanker, but not a whole lot of difference between the two, to me.

The thing is when to wear it... It's a clubbing fragrance if there ever was one, but I don't do much of that. Just a running around being mostly outdoors frag for me, or really trying for a fraction of a spray if going to be inside around people.

Yeah, that's the problem I have with 24 Gold. Its performance is actually TOO good. Like, it's hard to wear, because it's so heavy, even 1 or 2 sprays can gas people out. It's difficult to find appropriate settings in which to wear it because of this. I mostly just wear it when I'm staying home and want to feel comfy at this point.

Yeah it never worked for me before this, so pretty neat. And I feel a slight layer of something, but the important thing is feeling that drag. And I trim to a #2 (1/4") guard every so often and it works fine.

Just a few drops of water is all you need on the crystal. The idea is to put down a thin layer of salt on your skin to inhibit bacteria growth and thus prevent odors. Just wet and rub thoroughly into your pits. You won't feel anything afterwards really. Hair retains scent, so trimming or removing it helps. So does using antibacterial bar soap (Dial etc), especially while initially transitioning from waxy stick deodorant.

Chergui is really good. The first hour or so is all hay but it turns into a tobacco-honey scent that lasts for hours

I wasn't a fan of Black Phantom, myself. When I got my sample, the girl at the store didn't like it either, she said it smelled like peanut butter. I actually see where she gets that, it does sort of smell like peanut butter in the opening. The drydown's a bit better, it starts to smell a little fruity, almost like Amarula liqueur, but it still has this weird "wet dog" note that I don't love.

I think Back to Black and the new Gold Knight are much better offerings from Kilian.
