What styles do you like? Literally everything goes with jeans.

At that price range, if you don't know what you want, you should probably look at Chippewa's heritage/whatever the fuck line. Pretty basic/classic looking stuff, good quality for the price (or so I've heard). Their service boot (pic related) is my favorite model that they make and can be found for ~250 pretty easily. They have a few other solid options in the same price range.

I'm not really a /fa/ kind of person. I bought these boots a while back, they were really cheap surplus boots (cost about $60) but are really good quality and manufactured in Sweden. My sister who is more into fashion and clothes says they are horrific. Are they really that bad and if so why?

If you're counting pre-1950 style boots as combat boots the easy answer for me is the Viberg service boot. For a more modern but technically still old boot, the m1943 US ranger boot is beautiful and there are some nice looking reproductions available. Probably difficult to work into a modern fit though.

As far as classic doc marten-esque boots go I'd say the solovair 8 inch black greasy derbies (pic related) are the best looking. Corcorans look nice too if you can work around the huge toe boxes.

If you want something a little avant-garde/more designer-y, that's not really my style so I wouldn't know what to recommend.

You can probably find them for like $250-$300 pretty easily. I got mine for $200. Might not have the cap toe or the vibram half sole but you can put your own half sole on for like $20 or get it done at a cobbler for like $60.

Also I strongly recommend buying a pair that you have handled in person, the qc can be sketchy. My pair is pretty good other than one hook that's a little misplaced but I've seen much worse on the internet

ive looked everywhere, cant find the "adrian" cap toe wolverines elsewhere, def not for 250-300.

The regular 1k's yes, but I really want these cause of the cap toe and the extra rubber in the role.

Pic related is how they look like without the cap toe, for 400 instead of 415.

Size down unless you're planning on getting huge insoles and wearing tons of socks. I wear a size 10 us sneaker and the size 9-9.5 (eu 43 I believe) are most comfortable for me with some old running shoe insoles (medium thickness) and two pairs of socks. I'll probably need to go local doc marten store and try some of them there, then cop Solovairs. They should be fairly similar.

most comfy out of the bunch, but falling apart. wellco is inferior in terms of qc and quality to danner and bates.

the worst and most uncomfortable of them all. poorly made, don't fit right and have a tendency of getting way too loose while walking
