Dreamer is a floral lavender and tonka bomb that lasts for fucking ever. The only thing masculine about it is the tobacco opening that lasts for about two hours.

Not a safe blind buy unless you're a certain kind of man who can pull off floral frags.

>Body Kouros

Sample it first.

>>12915256

>Boss Bottled Intense

Is heavier on the vanilla, clove, and sandalwood notes than the original.

It lasts around 6 hours before going into that vetiver dry-down. (Versus the 4 hours of the original.)

>warmer/colder weather

Intense is better for colder weather and can be headache-inducing (for the wearer) in warmth.

Original Boss Botttled is better for warmer weather as the fruity top notes are more noticeable.

Versace Eros. I don't really know why people say it's a clubbing scent, it's strong, sure, but to me, it doesn't have that obnoxious club scent vibe. I agree with this. It does have the minty toothpaste thing going on and it is synthetic but the whiffs you get from it can be quite good and it definitely projects monstrously. Yeah, it has the synthetic minty toothpaste thing going, but also very nice tonka and dark woody/mossy notes. I like the combination of freshness, sweetness, and greenness. It's one of the few designer scents I wear somewhat regularly. I really do think it smells much more mature than your typical Sauvage/1 Million/Invictus/Ultra Male/etc.

I got Sweet Smoke. It's very similar to TV after an hour or two. It seems to have cinnamon (?). My brother described it as having more of a "christmas spice" character, and thought he smelled cloves. The "dried fruits" are more present too. It feels like something is missing, still, but it is good enough for now- it is still a very cozy scent. I still think I want the real deal, unless I on a second comparison between my TV sample and this decide that it's close enough.

I really want to buy pic related but Tom Ford's prices are ridiculous. 100 ml of Patchouli Absolu is more expensive ($315) than 250 ml of Dior Patchouli Imperial ($300), which is frankly nicer than the dab sample of PA that I tested. Southern hemisphere. Looking for a dry crisp summer fragrance with little/no sweet notes. Ideally no dominant citrus notes unless bitter bergamot maybe? Maybe a green but the only green I've had was amazingreen which I was not fond of.

For context current collection is wonderwood, rocky mountain he wood, encre noir and encre noir sport. Have mixed feelings about the sport. It's alright on a overcast/rain spring day but find it far too clammy on a hot sunny day plus is very casual.

Reflection smells nothing like Le Male. Not even a little. They're completely different genres. Le Male is sweet, synthetic lavender, vanilla, and spice. Reflection is refined, fresh, powdery orris root and sandalwood, with white florals and just a hint of sweetness.

They're really very dissimilar. I have no idea who told you they're alike, but they need to have their nose checked.

It's getting dark n cold n wintery here, so I've been enjoying TF tobacco oud. I'm pretty interested in his fleur oud fragrance also and hope to try that next time I visit a city.

Anyone else get shit longevity with TF? Black orchid and some of his other lower priced perfumes hardly last on me at all, and don't give out much sillage. The private range usually has better spillage for me, but they still don't last all day.

I don't think it's nose blindness, as I've asked other people's opinions.

Do other people prep their skin before applying fragrance? I'm thinking dry winter skin may be a contributor.

That's the one (mainstream) Rasasi that I don't yet own. Let us know how you like it and what it compares to.

Unrelated, I randomly discovered a store in an LA outlet mall which was selling all kinds of Armafs and other clone house fragrances for retail. They had CDNIM, Tres Nuit, AB Spirit Millionaire, stuff like that. What surprised me was the normal Club de Nuit Man (not the Intense Aventuslike with the unbearable opening). CDNM is more of an original, warm amber oriental fragrance that I guess is meant as a One Million-like. It's actually very nice, though, and I'm going to pick it up on ebay soon for around $20 as a winter evening cheapie.

Trying Gold Knight right now. It's actually not bad, very dominant honey notes with patchouli, a bit of dry vanilla, and anise. It's strange, because you'd think a honey-vanilla-anise frag would be really sweet, but it actually isn't. It's more dry and powdery. So I've been trying out Versace's The Dreamer for a couple of days, and so far I really like the opening, it is a bit synthetic like people say, but It's not as gnarly as people say it is. There's a pleasant subtlety of citrus in it but the top notes die down after a couple of minutes. It smells super flowery after an hour, but I feel after that flowery peak of about 2 hours it smells better the more it dries down leaving a sweet tobacco and lavender scent. I sprayed a little too close to my wrists the first time and I still smelled it there the next day. Overall it's a pretty interesting flowery frag with poor - decent projection that lingers for hours. Just left me wishing that the top notes would stick around longer.

I want a bottle of one for Christmas, not sure which yet. They both have that honey note that I absolutely love, Back to Black is a bit more complex, it has more notes to it, but the simple combination of honey-vanilla-anise-patchouli in Gold Knight is really nice. Gold Knight also has an amazing box.

To be fair I'm 19 and saved for the bottle, I'm not some Russian Oilgarch's sprig, yes it's garish with the flakes and everything and I personally think RD is on the decline (still successful ofc, not gonna knock him on marketing and building the business). I just smelled it blindly in a store where I went with family one day and really liked it, tested it and ended up saving hard for it. Like I've said before it's a 2013/2014 batch bottle but I can't be sure which exact one since there's no black code numbers on the bottom like the modern bottles. I like what it does, but I have other fragrances I like equally more if not more overall.

What I'd say to anyone getting into fragrances is to just get something you like or for what purpose you need to use it for, don't fall for marketing or certain brands that try to woo you with personal friendships and the like. If you're the type that wants to get what they pay for in terms of what goes into a fragrance it's bad it has to be this way but you're gonna have to research into brands a lot and look for authenticity, like if they have an Instagram for example where they show off ingredients being mixed or ready to be mixed.

Oh yeah, and never be an A-log sperg or you will be a lolcow for a bit.

new to this. What are some good starter, everyday scents to wear in a hot state like Florida? Looking to spend less than $125. I think i'd prefer something fresh for day-to-day use and something else for nighttime wear.

tried DG 'the one' - didn't really like it, uncomfortable for daytime/heat. found some vesace 'nautica' and thought it smelled like cheap soap. People have told me to look into acqua de gio, sauvage, allure homme sport, and La Nuit De L'Homme. Any other recommendations? thanks

Just got my 5mL Encre Noire in the mail, this is a first first impressions as I only smelled the atomizer and didn't even spray it.

So much fantasy wanna be writer bullshit about this on the net holy shit. It's mostly straight fresh grassy slightly smokey vetiver, with inky notes and some wood. I didn't like TF Grey Vetiver much which was citrus based so I doubt I'd like Encre Noire Sport. But I can see why it's recommended here a lot as the notes seem like it's the more normie "mall" fragrance version.

I'm interested to see how it fairs on my skin and changes through the seasons because it kind of smells like old man vetiver out of the atomizer. I really like the ink/smoke and want to find fragrances with those notes without as much of a vetiver blast because I'm finding I'm just not the biggest vetiver fan.

These finally came in. Trying them now side by side. Sprayed only about 15 minutes ago.
Wonderwood is my favorite so far, seems really similar to Rocky Mountain wood, but more intense which is a good thing. Floral, but still nice and woody.
Tam Dao is #2. Home Depot is very accurate description, at least in the top notes, the sweet, flowery sandlewood seems to be coming out as it dries. I want to try layering this one with something fresh like sauvage or maybe even wonderwood to make it more woody.
Hinoki is sweet and creamy to my nose... reminds me of a sauna. Good but not for me.
Kyoto is a no from me. Very incense-y... lives up to the name i guess. More wood is coming out as it dries but I will probably toss this sample out.

just got back from the mall. Beginner

Azzaro wanted smells like ass, like i walked into a barbershop filled with with hispanics. l’eau d’issey smelled a bit like urine. Eau Fraiche smelled nice, but I thought Versace Pour Homme smelled a bit more “refined”/expensive, need to try it again

Bleu De Chanel seems great. Kind of like lemon, wood, shower gel, and metal (??). It smells like a scent more appropriate for a guy in his mid 30s. L’homme Prada smells very Conservative, soft, unisex, inviting. Seems very nice for school/office wear, I like it. Versace Pour Homme and ahs seem to smell similar starting, but ahs seems to have a bit of a creamy smell to it. Versace smells stronger, fresher, something you’d wear outside to the beach, may give me a headache indoors. Really like ysl, reminds me of prada, but smells more interesting

Based off my preferences, where could I go from here? Anything better?

thanks for reading my blog

The opening of Tam Dao EdT is what sold me on it in the store. It is the closest scent to the old discontinued Gucci Rush for Men that I've come across. Unfortunately the opening doesn't last and it becomes something else, a sort of creamy yet dry wood. Pleasant but I can't get it out of my head that the scent belongs in one of those oil / reed diffusers more than it does on my skin. Maybe if you're feeling austere it'd be more your thing. Also it doesn't really project well or last more than 4-5 hours for me as a skin scent. Sad!

Get a sample the EdT to experience what it's like to get olfactory fatigue. You will learn to stop overspraying frags. (Also, it costs less than a decant of the EdP)

Can anyone give me their opinion on Encre Noire by Lalique?

I was looking for something dark and mysterious and I was told that this is it.
People say that it also smells like a burning forest or the way it smells after it rains which makes me even more curious to try it.

Are you familiar with the scent of vetiver?

It's a vetiver fragrance that's simply not fresh.

The extreme flanker has extra notes during the first couple hours (while projecting). After that, it's just the same ol' vetiver and cypress from the standard. Only difference is it's an EdP with (supposedly) no iso e super.

Both original and extreme dry down to a pure vetiver skin scent that lasts until your next shower.
