What do you think about buying women's boots if you are a dude (male)?

i wanna buy some ysl jodhpurs, i wanna know if i get some kind of lifetime warranty / lifetime repair warranty with them? i think they'll last a very long time if i keep resoling and reheeling them, but will YSL do anything on their part to help? £700 for boots isn't so bad if they have some kind of warranty

i guess if you are looking for something more low-key in terms of profile, or looking for dress boots you may end up in a situation wondering about women's boots.
your pic looks nice, this is some authentic looking stitchery that acts as a subtle accent to any everyday attire.
>>12881255
i guess you like different things.

(repost from fucci)
basic joe here,

I'm looking for a budget black boot that can bear snow and rain, but nothing too extreme.
I want something more subtle so I can use it on different occasions, mostly pairing it with black trousers or blue jeans.
Are martens a good option? My shoe number is 44-45 (11-11.5). Would the martens look took big on me? (I'm 6.1 (183) and skinny)

thanks!

Not use trying to compare them with more high-end boots, but I think that for the price they'll do just fine.

why a hard no to austrian memes? they're pretty much as basic as it gets when it comes to mid-20th century combat boots.

Not sure if i could pick a top 3 but the clear number 1 of all time imo is the US M1943 double buckle service boot. Impossible to find actual surplus but there are some repros available and the French army made a similar boot (called the ranger boot, probably because the french saw US rangers wearing m43s in WWII) that's much easier to find. These puppies just came and they fit the bill perfectly. Fuckin' stellar leather quality, zipper is coming in handy a lot more than I thought it would, and it's got a very flattering silhouette. Get them a half size down if you want them.
Only two downsides: a very long break-in period allegedly (mine are still quite stiff but that's to be expected) and the leather around the bottom of the zipper sticks out a bit. It's really only noticeable from the top-down though, and it's not as much of a problem as I expected

try a chukka, or desert boot, since they only go up to just above the ankle, they wrap around the ankle, so this wouldn't effect your leg length as much. there are lots of other designs that are basically 4 or 5 eyelet derby boots, that are pretty low but still cover your ankle and keep your feet warm

honestly, this is just the tip of the iceberg. any company who outsources the majority of their products to China, has a seriously flawed philosophy, why? because they continue to try and use the "American" brand image that they may have rightly earned in the past, to sell these pieces of shit to people who buy the brand and not the actual product. Look at Frye, they are pulling this exact same shit, they sold a while ago and moved everything tto CHina or Mexico, except for their "Made in America" line, yet they still charge premium prices for shit products that are completely designed and made in China/Mexico. To take a scoop of this disgusting business practice just go read any yelp review of the company in question, watch this
https://www.yelp.ca/biz/the-frye-company-new-york?osq=Frye+Boots

>That said, I bought a $400+ pair of boots there last month & the first time I went to adjust the side closure to fit my foot properly (within a week of purchase), it completely tore off, which was surprising because I wasn't forcing the strap & thought this was a quality item.

>I brought it back to the SoHo store & they apologized, embarrassed, & said they'd send it in for repair, that it was a busy week so I should expect it in 2 weeks at the latest.
>Weeks passed with no follow-up, & when I called the store the employee told me she couldn't help me track the order. I got in touch with the repair center, which informed me I won't receive the boots back for close to a month from now (it's already been 2 weeks).

>All of the customer service reps I interacted with were kind, but it's insane to me to wait 2 months to wear a pair of boots that I paid almost $500 for because of seemingly shoddy design. Yikes.

>> No.12888505

>>12888500
nother Frye review (and you just know that most or all of the actual positive review are by employees or paid marketing firms), ok? and this is "Frye", "Makers of Quality, American Boots"...pfff

>I have always worn Frye boots and do believe that they are a nice quality shoe. This is a complaint about a store experience, not the product itself.
I recently purchased boots from their SoHo location, retailing at about $550. I tried them on in the store hastily (only one foot) and then took them home. When I tried them on again at home I decided I didn't find the incline of the heel to be very comfortable, so I put them back in the box, and did not touch them again. Two weeks later I took them back to Frye to return/exchange. I didn't see anything that immediately caught my eye, but I was in a rush on my lunch break so I figured I would just return them and then come back that weekend to pick a new pair.

>When I went up to the register I was met with an employee who acted as though this moment/day/job was the absolute bane of her existence my mere presence made her that much more miserable. She never made eye contact with me, never spoke a single word, just snatched the boots out of the box and began inspecting them with an insane level of scrutiny. Her first words out of her mouth after me standing there for 3+ minutes were, "You wore these." (Mind you, we live in >Manhattan, the average person walks like 3+ miles a day, if I wore a black shiny leather boot out even for two hours you'd damn well know it). These shoes had not a single crease nor scratch, only a dust like scuff of the bottom of the right shoe, which is the shoe that everyone tries on around the store. These were also the last size 8's that they had in stock, so it stands to reason that shoe was tried on a few times.
(and it goes on)

some designer do this because they think it helps u to walk easier . because shoe soles are stiff and hard and they inhibit your foot from working properly as u walk . designer thinks that by curling the toe up, it helps your ball and toe react naturally to the ground as you step through your step.

this is not helpful though imo and actually contributes to bad posture and bad walking habits

Any decent winter boots that won't make me look like a space man?
I don't mean snow boots but I want some warmth with them. I've read through the thread but I'm still pretty lost, I've never owned boots that weren't made specifically for hiking or traversing thick snow so I'm not really sure what's decent and what isn't.

>> No.12891309

>>12891226

Start off by layering a thick merino sock over a thinner one. This might increase the shoe size you need. Then get shoes with at least minimal tread, such as mini-lugs or commando soles. Decent, thicc leather is going to be better at keeping off the wind (and rain/slush) than thin boxcalf. If your feet get really cold, get boots with lining. Everything else depends on your personal style & budget.

theres many different inner lining types you can have in the boot, plain leather, wool, cotton, polyester, fleece, felt, all of these different linings will affect the warmth. but having a thicker suede or leather outer is essential. leather is the warmest and thinnest and most visually pleasing. ie. do not get winter boots with canvas uppers, or some synthetic crap. synthetic uppers are absolutely awful and they do not stretch at all to form around your foot either.

All boots will crease where the ball of your foot flexes. Keep them polished and oiled. The most recommended military boot on /fa/ is the austrian light bundesheer "meme" boot, and for good reason. Cheap as fuck, thick leather, simple and classic style. I have a pair and they're great - good midway point between metalhead autism and acceptable normieness.

When they're in stock at kommandostore.com you can get them for $40 shipped. Otherwise if you Google around there are some other surplus stores that carry them occasionally, and you can always check eBay too.

As a general rule though any leather combat boot that was first issued before like 1995 is going to be solid quality so you have a good number of options.

I've had these for over 2 years now. Best boots I've ever owned, which is good because I paid like $220. I've walked through water up to the laces and came out on the other side with dry feet. I've hiked, worked, trudged through mud etc and they've held up like a charm. But as you can see the are starting to look really worn and I've never done any maintenance. What should I buy, mink oil? Would cleaning them with water and then oiling do the trick? Id really like the whole boot to look like the leather on the upper tongue, which is starting to look really good now. I don't hate the discoloration but I don't want the leather to dry out too much.

Scrub them with a brush and water, let them dry, and then condition. That should get you that shiny finish that you see at the top of the tongue

I've never used anything mink oil based. Your other main option is beeswax based, I'm not sure what the difference really is. I use Oakwood which is beeswax based and marketed towards horse stuff (recommended by a friend who works at horse shows). The classic beeswax conditioner for boots is sno-seal, I assume it's all pretty much the same.

Meh, the quality will be pretty sub-par. Shiny leather like that cracks and never heals and you really can't do anything other ´(oil or wax them properly) than give them a shine. I think steel-toed boots are fine, as long as you know how to dress with them since the toe is usually pretty distinguished. I'm a disgusting virgin metalfag who likes to wear both steel-toed DMs and oxblood-Solovairs. Both of them are comfortable on my feet, the steel-toe doesn't bother me like it might some. I think you should just skip the boots on your pic and look into getting a pair of Solovair-boots, Austrian memes or Corcorans.
