1. A classic martini, that means 2 parts gin, 1 part vermouth. On a coupe glass, garnish with lemon/olives... pearl onion if you want your breath to smell a bit more.

2. Neat scotch/bourbon. Don't be afraid to put ice on your glass, learn to enjoy your drink regardless of what the (toxic) whisky community says. Watch the amount though. I usually ask for "1 piece of ice" if I'm in the mood for something cooler. Some fancy places already do this by default, by providing an ice spehere. Splash of water is nice too, just enough to bring down the alcohol level below 35%.

3. A old fashioned. Whisky, as above.

4. Neat brandy. Brandy glasses are beautiful.

Overall, the MOST IMPORTANT THING is being able to identify the place you are in. If you're at a shitty club/divebar, the cocktails will look ridiculous, regardless of what you order. Order a drink neat for a minimal approach. Classier bars KNOW how to present their drinks.

Ultimately, be confident, take my advice with a pinch of salt and enjoy any drink you want
