I prefer restriction over fasting because I have a history of binge eating. Fasting for me makes the wait for losing weight almost unbearable, and the stress and feeling of deprivation from it usually leads to horrible binges that last days, or weeks. I try not to go over 1000 calories a day. If you replace high calorie processed food with healthy low calorie stuff like steamed vegetables and fruit smoothies and stuff, you'd be surprised how full you can get. Sure I still get hunger pangs but with every successful day I have it becomes easier to ignore them. Also, if you have a really strong craving for something, let yourself have it in extremely small portions and only very rarely so you can really appreciate it. I don't know how much you weigh or what weight you're trying to get to, but I hope maybe this advice is good enough and won't cause you to go mad like fasting potentially might.

I've been doing intermittent fasting the last few days and that gets me to lunch okay but then as soon as I eat lunch I'm starving and I eat too much. Don't touch the snacks to begin with, cheese and nuts really add up. And "breakfast bars" are some of the worst shit you can eat. If you really need to snack while at work, why don't you bring some raw fruits and vegetables or tea/coffee from home? Staying between 1200 and 900 calories is the healthy answer that I'll give you since that alone would help you achieve your weight loss goals. Also, allow yourself to indulge in junk occasionally. Everyone overeats every once in awhile. The difference between thin people and fat people is that thin people don't overeat every day. Or every week. If you want a junk food snack then just eat and enjoy it, but have the self control not to then have a full course meal afterward. Learn to delay instant gratification for the sake of a long term goal.

Also, don't eat out. Buy food in bulk and learn how to cook. The energy it takes to prepare a meal is enough to test whether you are actually hungry or not. I find that I only have the patience to cook my food when I really am hungry enough to make it.

Alright, so forgive me if this is a bit stupid, but I have a question and I figured this would be a good thread to ask it in.
I've been consuming rather low amounts of calories (<1500~) and lighter foods for a while. Though I'm doing quite a bit of stuff between classes and work, my weight is staying the same/slightly increasing. From the lethargy and overall just complete tiredness I'm feeling after a day's over, I have a feeling it may be something to do with my metabolism greatly slowing down from droughts of eating from depression episodes.

That aside, the question; what are some good metabolism boosters?

Thinking about drinking more green tea, but I'm not sure as to what else I could try to help get that going again (if that is the issue)

Zoodles are 25 calories a cup. Tomato sauce, 70 calories a cup. Salt and most other seasonings are 0 calories or so little calories that it barely matters.

This is basically the reason why so many vegans are skinny. Especially raw vegans. If they're selective of the type of foods they eat, they can consume large quantities of food while keeping their calorie intake relatively low.

Tough to say exactly, but four days a week I walk around 6-7 miles a day, one day a week I walk around 4 miles and spend about 2 hours doing moderate housework (vacuuming including stairs, washing windows), and I generally run any errand within three miles of my house on bike, so the distance biked depends on how much I have to do that week. Add in a proportionally longer torso and it's a complete bitch to achieve definition. What I would do is focus on obliques maybe posture and decent heels to add a bit of length to your legs

I went out to eat at a super high calorie resto-bar thing today and I only ate half my food, saved the rest for tomorrow.
Doesn't seem like much but I've never been able to leave leftovers, my appetite is obscenely huge. Now I get to stay under my target cals AND I have a delicious meal for tomorrow's lunch.

Oh, AND I made a point to eat mindfully - focusing on the smell, taste, texture of the food. Taking small bites and chewing thoroughly. Incorporating mindfulness into my eating routine has really helped with keeping bingeing at bay.
