I used to have hair just like this, my hair is still relatively frizzy because its naturally like that but try dabbing your hair with your towel when you get out the shower, it will leave you with less split ends but obviously it takes longer to dry. Try moving your fringe to cover more of your forehead in a sort of even way and see if it suits you, if your hair doesn't stay that way a haircut may be in order. Also comb it but not with a fine comb, try a larger one to make your hair more even without fully straightening it and making it look silly.

Pic is a bit shitty but it looks to me that your curls are dry. This is how I treat my hair:
1)Shampoo with non-drying shampoo (no sulfates) less than once a day
2)After shampooing use heavy conditioner (I use coconut oil-based) for dry hair, shower it off after 5 minutes or whatever is suggested on product description
3)On top of this apply a leave-in conditioner
4)Apply couple of drops of argan oil, focus on massaging the oil into scalp
5)Style with some matt paste/gum (I prefer styling products applicable for a wet hair)

I use 1+2+3+4+5 every second morning, and 3+4+5 every evening/after physical excercise and every morning when I do not shampoo.

Remember to use towel very gently when drying your curls, dont swipe back and forth, just apply it like a pad, make it soak in the water, apply once again etc.

Blow dry seldomly only with diffuser.

If I were you I'd cut these backs and style curls on top.

Since this is a general hair thread now I guess, did anyone experience hair loss with accutane? I'm on 40mg right now, only 2 weeks in, and I'm noticing a few loose hairs nearly everyday. Not hair loss in the sense that it's in any way noticeable or even something you could see in my hair, but more of like whenever I run my fingers through my hair I might find a strand. Maybe I'm overreacting and the only reason I'm just now noticing these loose hairs is because I'm looking for them. Anyone here have experience?

The medication is also giving me dandruff. Only other time in my life I regularly found loose hairs was when I had dandruff in high school.
