among white americans, darker hair/olive skin has always been viewed as more fashionable.

look at the ethnic pool of large cities in america such as NYC. huge italian/jewish immigrant groups leading to an average darker white population in the city.

people with fairer skin/hair as far as i can tell tended to either flee cities into soulless suburban voids without culture, remained Appalachian hillfolk, or are german americans living in the midwest, the only region of the country where even the major cities are boring as fuck.

yep! this exactly. he could be wearing almost anything and his look is still timeless, classic, potentially urban, american.

comparable blond haired, paler guy with that facial structure and in a similarly lit photo would look like some rich kid straight out of a ralph lauren ad.

these kids look like bitches tho. and i'm not into hating on anyone or making assumptions based on physical appearance. i have pretty similar skin tone and hair color to the kid in the front but my mom has brown hair and brown eyes and my dad has thick, curly jet black hair and beady lil irish eyes. idk where the fuck my blond hair came from.

aside from purely being an aesthetic or /fa/ concern around what i think looks better in general, it sucked growing up working class in a diverse city looking like the rich kids and i still to this day wish i could distance myself from that.
