Love me some Jubilation XV, though. Fantastic stuff.

I find Kilian very overrated overalll. I've tried like 7 or 8 of their frags now, including Intoxicated and B2B, and nothing's really blown me away. For the prices they go for, they're really just not worth it in my opinion. I tried Straight to Heaven Extreme recently, it's supposed to have a double hit of vanilla, and I got no vanilla at all. No sweetness, just slightly citric wood and a ton of rum. Definitely not fake, since I got it from a very high-end department store and watched the girl pour it myself. one more question: will anybody who isn't into frags (read: qts) think anything odd of wearing something outside of the seasons it represents? I have a couple cheap ones but I'd like a nice one for each half of the year, probably just start off with one tho if I can get away with it

>> No.12518337

Well, the main reason some frags are seasonal is because they may not perform very well under certain conditions. For example, very rich, spicy, sweet, vanilla, heavy frags can get very cloying in hot weather. Very light citrus/aquatic frags tend not to project well in cold weather.

That said, if a fragrance performs well, even if it isn't traditionally in season, I see no problem with wearing it. I wear Amouage Jubilation XXV during the summer often, for example, it doesn't really seem to have issues in hot weather even though it is quite a heavy scent.

Versace Dylan Blue is really versatile and mass-appealing. Citrusy and fresh but also with some spice and wood, you can basically use it any time of day/year

Acqua dio Gio is another great one, though you probably want the profumo, it has some spice to it which can make it work at night, too

So is there a perfume for a male to smell as attractive as possible. I am aware pheromones stuff they sell is bullshit, but I would like the next best thing that also smells fucking great.

I was thinking, according to what I have found so far, something that mixes sandalwood, jasmine, musk, leather, amber, aldehydes and maybe orange, vanilla and cucumber.

The typical answer is stuff like Invictus, with Hedione or whatever. I'd say that's about right, even if those frags make you wanna gag, women seem to love them.

Just got a full tester bottle of Versace Pour Homme, adored the sample I got. Issue is, there's this massive, obnoxious citrus startup in my full bottle that wasn't there in the splash. I have to wait 20 minutes for it to go away before I go anywhere and it's really annoying, plus even after it smells slightly off. Did I get gypped with a fake or was the splash just weak?

It doesn't really work that way. Every girl will like something different. There is no one universal scent or a set of notes that girls will all like. It also depends a lot on you and what you project. Wearing something that smells very mature as a young man won't work well on you, for example. You're not gonna make yourself irresistible to women by spraying some magic water on you.

You're trying to treat this like a science, like "my research indicates women like these notes", but that's not what it is. It's an art and a fashion statement. You wear fragrances to accentuate your charm and personality. It's a very personal thing. You have to try out some different ones and find what works for you.

I am starting to feel self conscious wearing my Tuscan Leather. I put some on and the couple next to me on a plane kept talking amongst themselves about what that smell is. >> No.12518602

>>12518589
Not that hard to understand, really. Designer scents are specifically made to be generic and crowd pleasing. They're supposed to have mass appeal.

Niche fragrances tend to be more divisive because they're for connoisseurs. They're for people who can appreciate more complex and nuanced scents. They're not supposed to be scents everyone will like. It's kind of like the difference between generic pop music that's designed to just be catchy and inoffensive, and Indy music or jazz or classical. Some people love jazz, but it's not something everyone will appreciate.

>> No.12518603

98% of people, especially qts, won't have a clue what you're wearing, other than "you smell nice." That said: >>12518337 speaks the truth about thicker frags getting cloying in the heat.

>> No.12518605

>>12518602
It is possible to appeal both the connoisseurs and the masses. I guess the trick is to add the complexity in such a way it does not get in the way of a more simple appreciation of it. Basically a subtle but clearly present complexity.

This might be bait, but there are three places you do not wear any fragrance: the gym, a hospital and an airplane. And you wore TL? Jesus, those poor people.

>> No.12518607

>>12518605
Oh, of course, there are designer scents that I love that are fairly sophisticated as well. They just tend to be more "safe". Something like Versace Eros. It's fresh, sweet, relatively nonlinear, it has a lot going on and it's something a connoisseur could certainly appreciate. It also just smells good. Pretty much everyone will like Eros, or at very least not dislike it.

Something with a lot of oud and musks and woods and leather, though, might not be something a lot of people like. There are just some notes or combinations of notes that are accquired tastes. I love Serge Lutens Arabie, for example, I've gotten compliments on it, but I've also had people tell me I smelled like a walking spice market or Indian food. Doesn't matter, I wear that one for me. I don't expect others to love it.

Full bottles were here the next day. But i live pretty close.
Samples sometimes take a while longest was 20 days but that was cause i didnt notice their note about one frag not being available. I think they only decant the samples on certain days in batches.

I buy from ebay, only sellers with thousands of feedback and 99.5%+ positive feedback, though. It's super cheap comparatively. For instance, places will try to sell a 1.7oz of AdG for 64.99, but you can buy it for 28 dollars sealed on ebay.

Fragrancenet is legit and they always have discount codes for up to 30% off your order.

And when you do order, your order will come with a flyer containing a 20% off discount code printed on it.

Unfortunately, they don't let you redeem more than one code simultaneously.

The "tester" on the left is fake.A very good indicator is the stem on the atomizer. If you look on the right, the stem is nearly invisible. Armani does this by designing the bottle in such a way that the color and transparency of the stem matches the foggy opacity of the bottle, making it hard to see. The fake on the left misses that by using a plain white stem. It's little details that make fakes easy to spot, but the general population won't notice it.

>>12522295
This is most likely fake because you can also see the stem, the lettering on the bottle is jet black (ADG has a gray lettering on the bottle), and there is a gap under the atomizer that is not supposed to be there. Notice that it uses the same "tester" box.

The assumption that testers aren't faked is pretty dumb. As matter of fact, it'd be easier to make a tester because you don't have to worry about manufacturing a box that looks identical to the original, nor wrapping it in neat cellophane. Just throw a few markings on a box, or use a plain white box and that's it.

The other guy is defending the fakes because he probably buys from those high-volume Ebay sellers and thinks he's clever for getting a huge "deal" compared to retail.

>> No.12522359

Rochas man is supposed to have strong coffee undertones so that's probably where the comparison comes from. Might pick up a sample to check it out because dark temptations was a standard for me in high school

I just bought a sealed 100ml bottle of Bleu de Chanel edp off ebay for 90 shipped and that was easily the best price I could find anywhere for it new like that. The seller has 100 percent feedback but the total count is around 50. Ebay has rock solid customer protection so I'm not worried about getting my money back if I have to. Any obvious things I should look at when I get it to make sure it's not a fake?

Yes mine has a magnetic cap, but Chanel has it polarized so that the logo lines up, and is readable with the font of the bottle. So try this: Turn the cap like you're unscrewing a bottle cap. The cap should come off without having to use force. If it stays, it's fake. The fakes have magnets but they're not polarized. Check under the bottle cap for the Chanel logo as well.
Like I said before, it's small details like these that fakers miss.
