Also gonna try to get samples of Roja Dove Enigma, and Amouage Bracken, Sunshine, and Reflection.

Thoughts? Anything else I should be looking out for? Any good woody frags that aren't ridiculously priced? I like Creed Royal Oud, but not enough to buy a bottle of it. Something fresh with some nice sandalwood would be awesome, doesn't need to be too cheap, just not like 250.00 a bottle.

Like since the whole "drama" about disclosing whether he is sponsored in a vid or not, he basically is sponsored by notino (formerly beautyspin) but you have to click read more in the description so he is doing the absolute bare minimum for disclosing his sponsorships, and although he is a cool guy and stuff, that shady business practice is subpar for a channel of his size. Although it was hilarious watching Daver from the fragrance bros get all condescending. Thats the cringest thing about a number of reviewers, narcissism or delusions of grandeur. The drydown is a little more floral and peppery to me. Maybe a little soapy, but not in a bad way. Maybe just doesn't work so well on your skin.

I also like 24 Elixir Neroli, but that might be a bit hard to find as it's not really technically out yet.

Creed MI is great too, but that's more of a rich burnt orange than fresh citrus, and has those salty notes that not everyone likes.

cdg 2 smells good, but it really is an underwhelming scent imo. or rather, inoffensive. like a kids toy store or something except kids toy stores never smell like that.

To be fair, you can make Aventus by yourself, what they use is no secret really. Pre-IFRA oakmoss ban the most expensive ingredient would have been a good quality oakmoss absolute. Now they probably use the Veramoss to replicate it. Manzanate gives the apple and pineapple notes, citronellol the bergamot note. As for the Juniper berries and Blackcurrant, Beta-Damascones are used. The birch would just be plain natural methyl salicylate. Patchouli absolute. The whole thing would be held together by rose absolute and heroine (to replicate Jasmine, the vast majority of perfumes need an element of rose absolute to hold it together.)

As for the base note fixatives, they use iso e super of course, the "famous creed ambergris" is just ambroxan mixed with ambrettolide to give off the musky animalic notes. Vanillin used for the vanilla note obviously.

And there is essentially Aventus, the so called "batch reformulations" are just tweaks of the chemicals as well as adjusting the dosage of chemicals they have to list as potential allergens (i.e. alpha iso-methyl ionone). And there you have your scammer ladies and gents, the cost of the ingredients used to make Aventus might be just 10-15% of the retail price depending on what the IFRA allow these days, its frankly disgusting and pretentious to see them boldly show off exclusivity when all they are doing is ripping of people thinking they are buying into high quality niche. This might seem like bullshit but its an ugly truth. If you don't care and just like the smell, go for it. But you are honestly better off spending your money somewhere else if you are someone that cares about what goes inside the bottle, even if you have to splash out more.

Curious. What exactly have you tried? Did you just spray it on paper and smell once? Did you give any of them a day's wearing?

Any time I hear someone say that and I just think they need to smell more.

But to answer your question, knowing almost zero criteria, check out Coromandel.

All right, I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

>warmer weather

A storm landed here and brought back winter weather for the next nine days or so.

Now I'm thinking of going with either Emporio Diamonds or pic related.

Both get great performance in the cold (70°F/21°C and below), the latter frag being good year round.

Well some houses actually use high proportions of naturals, it just depends where you look. Don't group all "high end" fragrances together creed fanboi. Creed is becoming designer at this point, there is a difference between "high end" stuff using very little naturals and claiming to be the best and ones that actual put in an effort where you can smell the quality of the oils. The only super high end brand that I'm dubious about is Clive Christian, since it only marketed the worlds most expensive perfume (due to the diamond ofc and baccarat bottle of imperial Majesty or Passant Guardant), but it never claimed to make the finest fragrances in the world. There are certain brands that do cost an insane amount, but you can sniff them blind and pick them out for others. For anyone thats interested, Sultan Pasha makes extremely high quality attars and *some* of them are 85% natural, while the rest are 100% natural.

I never mentioned the buzzword "natural" nor any particular house. Not sure why you made them talking points, but since you did...

Perhaps this article by Chandler Burr will shed some light on the "natural is better" concept many people believe:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/27/style/tmagazine/t_w_1532_1697_face_perfume_.html

Couple other articles on the matter that don't come from places selling "natural" frags:
http://www.xovain.com/how-to/are-natural-costmetics-better
http://www.harpersbazaar.co.uk/beauty/fragrance/news/a35462/the-science-of-scent/
http://www.simplysoap.com/natural-vs-synthetic.php
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/02/090203110549.htm

There are countless threads on BN saying basically the same things.

Again, there is nothing wrong with paying more for a fragrance if you can afford it if you don't want anyone else smelling like you, but you are fooling yourself if you think your money buys a "higher quality" product.

Go with Bleu EdT. It's livelier than the EdP. No, DHC and BdC EdT do not intersect nearly enough for either to be redundant. Allure Homme Sport is nothing like Bleu de Chanel. AHS is an airy fresh semi-aquatic with a creamy base. If it were a color, it would be sky blue. Bleu is all citrus-wood-incense. While not exactly a heavy hitter, it's much more substantial feeling than AHS.

Lalique white - the most exquisite white florals you'll ever smell. Unisex definitely but with a beautiful undertone of jasmine that somehow manages to be both masculine and sexy. Projection is moderate and longevity is good. Cannot recommend this more.

L'eau d'issey pour homme - yuzu, yuzu and more yuzu. Admittedly I found it too bitter the first two times i wore this but as with all frags, the more you wear it the more you like it. Even though people say its been butchered by reforms, it still lasts all day in spring and summer heat and throughout exercise. It's an interesting take on the usually boring and generic citrus genre, really mellows out to a nice frag after 20 mins.

Gier Ness - honestly, I'm not too sure what to say about this. Its phenomenal, has an incensey base reminiscent of BdC EDP and lasts and projects really well. A personal favourite for work and semi-formal occassions.

Lastly, try dior homme sport 2017. Interesting to say the least. I only tried it once in a department store so I cant say anything about it other than its a well blended frag

I wouldn't call them underrated, they get the attention from the community they deserve, it's obvious Encre Noire will be regarded as one of the most iconic fragrances of it's decade. White is somewhat underrated, I agree, but that is because it doesn't stand out as much the way EN does.

Anyway Hommage and White are safe blind buys. EN can be if you like vetiver, especially it's earthyness. Extreme I have yet to get my hands on, but it should be a better blind buy over the original, unless you feel daring.

Only the most pretentious of fragrance snobs will tell you it's dogshit or that it smells much if at all different from past formulations. That said, performance is somewhat weaker. Longevity is still pretty decent, at least average, but it gets closer to the skin more quickly and doesn't project as much. Given the sort of fragrance that it is though I think that's sort of a good thing – it's more intimate.
