What's it like being a total scrub?

Speaking of spring, what kind of sneaker would you guys recommend for a 62 year old man? My dad's birthday is in April and I want to get him some nice shoes. He's very active (golfing, fishing, lots of walking with his dog) but he's too conservative for boosts and tech-y shoes. He'll just put insoles in whatever I get him anyway, so comfort isn't too much of an issue.

I got him white AF1 lows last year and he loved them, but they're worn out now and I don't want to get him the same shit. Any good recommendations? I was going to get him some White Mountaineering adidas but I dragged my heels too long and his size is gone, but I was eying these just now
