Oh yeah, and this. Honestly, I would just get a acrylic gel medium instead. It's going to maybe twice as much cost wise, but the finish is going to be smoother and once completely dry is going to wash the same as fabric paint.

if you cut a hole in the parka, it will drape incorrectly forever thereafter unless the fabric you're replacing it with is of the same weight, drapes in the same manner, and you sew it absolutely perfectly.

There are plenty tutorials online. You measure what you need to take in. You fold the pants inside out. You draw a line, stitch and cut the leftover fabric. I think a better project for a beginner would be a tshirt. It's a simple project to get familiar with the sewing machine and it's various stitches. It also gives you a basic idea of how a garment is constructed. The pastebin has links to websites that offer patterns. Instructions are included with them.

I have two questions.
What percent cotton/poly was yours and what dye/how much did you use?
I have a 65/35 and I used to packs of rit dye with hot water and salt and my jacket is noticeably darker but it isn't black more of a very dark green and in some light black-ish with the pattern coming through.
Also does anyone know if I will have to use a dye remover before trying to darken it again or should I just keep adding dye to it? I'd post a picture but I have no form of camera at the moment.

I painted some vans red with 2 layer of acrylic paint. I have been wearing them for 2 weeks and the paint cracked a bit but only the 2 layer so you can't see the original colour.

Yeah you can do this. I painted my vans because I really wanted some red vans and I had bought some ugly tiedye vans for really cheap. I also think it's pretty cool that you can see the other color under the paint.

Is there a way to replace this safety pin with a standard post pin? I find this too fragile and loose.

Does anyone have any idea why these came out so different? I did a load of three of them at once, 2 turned out a perfect black but the one just barely got darker. All 3 were 80% cotton as well, could it have been mislabeled? Should I try more dye?

Bought some chuck 2's in an ugly ass neon colour a few months back cause they were on sale for £10 so i bought some cheap car spray paint in Poundland (Equivalent to something like DollarTree) and did the first coat. Will post before and after tomorrow when done.

to create platforms you need to mold another sole onto the shoe. You can use rubber cement and glue another, larger sole on the shoe. Then use a file to create a seamless joint between the original sole and the new one.

Trace out the outline of the sole on styrofoam of desired thickness, cut it out with some tolerance for finer trimming, cover the bottom then fill them with latex. Wait for that to cure, then grind down the bottom of your shoes( optional but recommended) then either glue the platforms on or just attatch the shoes to the platforms while they're curing. Then trim the sides as you see fit

after. im really happy with how it turned out. theres little spots of neon on the sides of the tongue and some of the paint got onto the sidewall but i actually really like how that looks. also i used glossy paint so the eyelets are very deep black and glossy and the shoes have a very subtle shimmer
the canvas actually feels nicer now that theyre painted because its a lot more stiff

How do I fade the colour of my jeans? Currently indigo And I want light blue. They have 2% elastine so i am worried about using chemicals that could damage the fibres

Should I cut the back out of this shirt to put on my jacket? I'd probably take that strap in the center off so it could sit a bit lower.

I think sewing jeans is quite difficult for someone who has only tapered and hemmed. There's also the question if the ordinary sewing machine can handle 2 or 3 layers of denim. An industrial machine seems better in that regard. Maybe buy a pair of oversized high waisted jeans and tailor them?
