This may be a silly question because I'm so oblivious but I got these jeans 2 days ago thinking "I'm gonna get some sick fades in these" but I'm not even sure if they're raw denim? When should I was them / soak them and can someone explain the difference between washing and soaking and why?

Any denim will fade over time. The inside of your pants is the original color before the indigo.

dont wash them ever unless they smell bad or you spill shit on them this goes for all jeans.

what jeans are they? What does the label say? Soaking will clean them, shrink them a little and soften them up, will give some fades if you wore them long enough. Washing will get rid of more of the colour and give higher contrasting fades
