i think they didn't choose a merrowed edge because laser-cut or similar is better when you have an iron on backing. if the edge is merrowed the patch peels of the fabric more easily which you obviously don't want.

righto, should be simple enough, the NY is embroidered straight onto the cap but the patch you want is sewn on. So see where that white stitching is outlining the patch? You need to get a seam ripper like pic related, hook it underneath each stitch and cut the thread, once you've done them all it should come off.
