You're a Gran Autismo.

Really though watches under about $100 are tools for checking the time, $100+ is autist tier, and over $1000 is when you get into middle managers measuring their dicks.

Broke my phone back in June. Woke up at a bus stop in bumfuck nowhere after a night of drinking and realized I had no idea what time it is. Copped pic related (obv a promotional shot) the next day.

I like clean/minimilastic design on watches. In hindsight the logo is fucking ugly, but I like it

The log is ugly, too much of a times new roman font, and I don't care for the specific hands they used, but overall the face and case are nice.

I'm not kanyeezy and probably couldn't do the homeless look very well, but what does /fa/ think about old shit that has a lot of wear and tear to it? I found an old watch which looks alright to me, but its got no band, its an automatic, and isn't running, but if i shake it for a minute the second hand will tick for a good 15 seconds. Do I just need to take it to a jeweler to wind it back up? pic related. I assume I could find a NATO leather band to wear it again, I'm not a fan of bracelets or metal bands.

Take it to a watch shop and ask for a service. It will be expensive and they may discover that it needs a repair of some kind, which will cost even more. Don't wear a wristwatch that doesn't work though.

It's a vintage Timex Camper watch, the ever last timex model with a mechanical movement. It was developed first for the military as disposable plastic watch.
It also became famous for being MacGyver's watch in the first 3 seasons.
They used to go for $40 in the 80s but now they go for like $100 on eBay if you happen to find one.
I got lucky as fuck and snatched mine in a clean condition for just 14€ shipped on an auction, the NATO is the original one.
Last year Timex did a limited edition reissues with quartz movement and indigo but same appearance, but it has completely lost its charm imo.

I'm in the market for a daily wear black/silver watch in the ~$500 range.
Preferably something that goes well with a dark suit too.

The problem is that I have pretty small wrists (16 cm), so the trend with blimpy half cup sized watches kinda limits my choices.

Something similar to pic, but less pricy. Date complication not necessary.

It's probably because Amphibians were stupid cheap for the longest time, come in a variety of styles, and either have a simple uncluttered look, or have a nautical theme that some may find interesting. I guess you could almost call them the Russian equivalent of the Seiko 5.

You're essentially buying a modded version of this. You also won't get that watch for another five to six months, while you can buy the Invicta right now.
https://www.amazon.com/Invicta-8926OB-Analog-Japanese-Automatic-Stainless/dp/B000JQFX1G/ref=pd_sim_241_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000JQFX1G&pd_rd_r=ATHPGTWTT1RP7KWP7K53&pd_rd_w=y79MD&pd_rd_wg=Qi1ol&psc=1&refRID=ATHPGTWTT1RP7KWP7K53

Just got my cheap af Sturmanskie reissue in the mail today. I'm seeing if I like having a watch on my arm, so I only paid $45 with shipping from UK.

I got it because I needed a second-hand watch for nursing school, but I'm also a stylish individual and wanted something I could feel good about wearing.

If it turns out being something I enjoy wearing, I'll take the plunge on a $300+ Poljot when the time and money are right.

It's a symbol of status and professionalism. If you see a guy with a Rolex or a Philip Patek you know he probably has a good job. It's also more appropriate in a professional setting rather than checking your phone, or if you're in school.

Just avoid autist brands and styles. Avoid cheap skeleton watches, or anything that's meant to make your watch look vintage and you won't look like an autist. Also no g-shocks unless all black.

that's a nice watch, a tad big to be fa... the skx013 looks a lot better, but the good news is the 007 is more popular and easier to get parts to customize it for cheap.
-Get a braided nylon band: less bulky than nato but just as practical and easy to install and clean. A smooth silicon or a Milanese band could also be considered. Maybe something with an oyster or a deployment clasp if you're feeling it a bit dandy.
-Get a new bezel. It's almost as easy to install a custom bezel as it is a new watch strap. This is going to make a world of difference, the factory one is cheap and clunky. Get a smooth bezel preferably, or at the very least change the insert on yours.
- You can change your dial and hands after that, just make sure your calendar dial looks nice with the one you chose. I think a white field watch dial could be nice on yours.
you've got one of seiko's nicest case and a proven movement; it's not a showstopper, but that's a great watch. make it your own
