You say "techwear" as if it was only about how it looks, which is not the case. It's about function in the clothings construction and material.

Although I don't know if his shirt or shoes houses any technical function, his belt I know are only for show.

Man, it's such a struggle. I started seeing this girl and she's super cool, commented on my J1A the first night we met (she was curious about the back strap), and then clowned on me because she thought it was dorky to be so into my jacket.

Haven't even told her the price... she'd probably never let me live it down. All she knows now is that it's waterproof and has cool features like the back strap and earbud holders.

It depends on what you're most interested in with techwear. If you're looking for just rugged, military-inspired style with more pockets than you need just look for cargos and jackets at military surplus stores and get everything altered to fit you, and maybe pair that with some clearance/outlet nike shoes and whatnot. But if you're really concerned with high performance clothes WITH the style that is associated with techwear, it'll be hard with that budget.

It's even more difficult when techwear is mainly only popular with guys, so most of it is menswear. But check out Nau, Snow Peak, Gyakusou (on sale), maybe even some North Face stuff could get you started.

Are you really basing your argument on tumblr nonsense? ALL fashion takes influence from culture. It's far more tactful to design new clothes based on cultural things than to literally rip off everything you do from Acronym then ban people for talking about Acronym on your page.

It's an old German strap (same one used for coloured of a lot of third arm stuff). Can't remember where they got them but I know a couple people have bulk ordered some including someone in the discord.

I don't think they would be great for tightening anything though since it would require more work than something simpler.

Maybe I'll use them as clasps for something.
ordering some $40 tactical cargos, going to see about tapering them and adding things, maybe even changing pockets, should be a fun project.
I really like the milsurp/tech aesthetic but the prices on brands can be much, maybe if I get good at making things I'll set up a custom shop or something and make affordable things,(probably not GOREtex but I could still weatherproof things with nikwax and such)
I'd also like to try to move out of the black/grey themes and use colors(albeit muted/earthy).I think muted blues/greys/whites would be a fun pallet to work with.

theyre called spanish fly buckles, used on german army grenade and ammo pouches, their primary use is as a secure and reliable quick release buckle, so theyre not usefull for tightening stuff, but are pretty cool as a fastening method. i dont know where you can get them from, i have been looking for them myself for quite a while actually, another cool buckle that everytech company is using right now is called the cobra buckle and is easier to obtain but costs quite a bit (around 20 eur) you can get them from ebay individually or mass order from the manufacturer (austri alpin) im getting my first batch of custom smaples tommorrow, will post ITT when i get them

Any recommendation for something thin to wear between a tee and a hardshell? Fleece is working well for me right now, but it gets kinda stuffy. Doesn't regulate well enough when I get back on the train. My back tends to heat up a lot when I lean back as a result.

I think a little bit of both is good, the ninja stuff brings a lot of the futuristic look which is always a nice option to have, and some that does mix well with the more utilitarian pieces. I think really it's just a case of doing techwear but don't make it so loud

i made the pattern myself its basically an MA1 without the bottom ribbing and one side of the collar drops diagonally over the front and turns into a flap that clips to the side of the jacket via the cobra, ive also made some subtle changes to the fit via some shaping darts at the upper back, ill post pics when its done.

cool vid, i like that people are starting to make their clothing, gives you respect for stuff you wear. he did make some mistakes but the end result is fine

if you go to their website they have pictures of all the features of the jacket. There is a spec sheet as well, but not nearly as detailed as the website photos, but all the features are there in the spec sheet.

Only thing I wasn't sure about was this zipper placed in the back inside of the raised collar. It's for another acronym piece, J-57 I believe.
