Old thread is close to cap.

Post your boots related inquiries and pics here.
Let's contain all those dumb boots question threads to one thread.

No effeminate boots like pilotenstiefel or solovairs allowed, only the manliest of boots allowed. Nu males despair.

Thanks for the tip on sizing. I think I'll stick to the jump boots; they fit me better, I like the classic look of them. I'm fairly new to /fa/, on the sizing it says "D" or "E" for my size, does it make a big difference? Is there an easy way to determine which one fits me better?

I bought an old pair of red wing boots from ebay, was wondering if it would be worth it to resole them to a commando or lug sole to make a nice winter boot. They are 10 inch laceups, look vaguely like a pair of paratrooper boots without captoe. Current soles got some life left, but are smooth and fairly weathered. Pic is them from listing, a more dull brown in person.

Speed-shilling. Impressive.

I always see /fa/ discussing Docs in these threads, so I thought I'd give my thoughts:

I got some 1460 monos and I'm very happy with them. I was worried at first, because of everyone complaining non-stop about chink shit, bad quality, uncomfortable, Solovair is bettaaaaah and bla bla bla... but none of that proved to be true.

To put things in perspective, I've owned SLP boots before and while the leather quality was impeccable, they felt clunky and super uncomfortable to a point where they're unwearable without an insole. Not to mention how they fucked up my heels bloody. Yes, you get the 'clown shoe' shape with the Docs, but so do Rick boots. They were comfy like sneakers right out of the box to me and if the silhouette and plastic-looking outer doesn't bother you, I would recommend them. They're good-year welted too, so I think they're adequate for moderately cold winters.

I would go military surplus if I were in your situation. The thin uppers of typical combat boots allows you to wear them with thinner legged pants, rather than hunting around for the appropriate pants as well. Pic is of some used surplus austrian army boots, but Jungle boots might serve you well too. Here in the states the jungle boots are a bit of a meme, but I feel like they would be less played out in the elsewhere. Either option is $30, so you wouldn't invest too much. It'd be more of a starting place than a final statement.

Nothing really stands out in terms of jungleboot, if you opt for lace in zippers (my recommendation), then go with standard eyelets.Otherwise, be aware of the quick lace models, which may be nice for daily wear (takes a while to lace the boots otherwise). Steer clear of rothco and stansport. You may want to look into the "ripple sole" pic related.

I honestly wear my brown boots more often, but that's because I tend to have less black and more blues, greys and olives in my wardrobe. It all depends I suppose.

repostan from sneaker general

Need help with sizing some nike SFBs /fa/. I'm generally between 11.5 and 12 US for sneakers. These things pretty much feel like 8" sneakers, I tried on both sizes for them wearing my thickest wool socks and both feel fine I guess, obviously the 11.5s are a tad snugger, I can just move my pinky toe around. Also according to the Nike sizing for the shoe I'm between a 11.5 and 12.

Should I go for the 11.5s? considering I was wearing my thickest socks and I could wear less thick socks with them. Plus do they stretch for anyone who has them? really need help here.

Can anyone recommend how to clean and condition rough out leather boots with minimal impact on the colour? I've been scrubbing them with a suede brush whenever possible, but some wear is finally starting to show, and I don't own anything that doesn't have a giant "keep away from suede" warning slapped on it.

they make suede cleaner
it's essentially a mild soap
you use a spray bottle or the like to dampen the boots slightly
then you use a very small amount of the cleaner to clean the boots
then a bit of water again
let them dry and then brush with the stiff bristled suede brush to restore the nap
the stuff I use is called Lincoln E-Z Cleaner and while it's mainly meant for suede, it's a great all purpose shoe cleaner

Is this normal? This shit appeared within 2 weeks, with only about 2km of walking 4 times a week (like < 20km total). The other boot doesnt look like this.

I know timberlands are a sin here but the next best thing I can get in this tiny cuck town is an online order, which I would rather not deal with. However I might resort to it if this shit falls apart.

just bought a pair of redwing 9011s at a good price for my first real pair of boots

do I need to treat these as soon as I get them or can it wait? wait do I use?

>> No.12024333

>>12024134
you dont need to condition them from new but when you do then use the burgundy shoe cream redwing sells. and if by treat you meant waterproof then get some silicon shoe spray and throw it on there whenever, although they will never be truly waterproof just more water resistant

I've had rothco. theyre trash. You want something like Wellco (pic related). That's when they were still only a year to two old.

Or go for Altama. https://www.amazon.com/Altama-Black-Domestic-Vulcanized-Boots/dp/B004714M8E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1481002421&sr=8-3&keywords=altama

Pretty sure those are basically nike combat boots. I wore those when I was in the army, they are so comfortable dude. I had 9.5W, usually wear 9.5-10 non-wide depending on shoe.

Go for the 11.5, especially if they feel good trying them on. Best combat boot in the world, you can run in them like tennis shoes.

careful though
jungle boots, especially old Wellco (ro search) are really bad for your feet
they're overly narrow and the sole is designed for muddy and spongy jungle floors so walking on hard surfaces with them will fuck you over, especially given that there's a steel plate in the sole so not much give

there's a reason those older models were phased out

dunno about Rothco, they tend to get panned by honest reviewers. You might be better off spending an extra $20 and get the UA or Nike sneakercombatboot. If you do get them, let us know how it goes, I'm interested to see how they turn out.

I needed a decent looking pair of waterproof treaded boots so I just picked these up, they were on sale and I don't think I'm doing better for under 200, sadly my red wing vintage's are useless for canadian winters (even with a retread I'd have to wax them to have any form of waterproofing)

hello southern friend, you might not get many good answers around here, but heres some tips

Don't ever tuck unless you're riding or doing any kind of work that would require it. Otherwise just treat outfits like you would with a chelsea or any other boot really. If you ever travel out of the south and you're not a total skellington, pair em with some acid wash and a dark tee and you'll pull all the tail.

Wrangler 13MWZ if you want the original, they make em slim too, and you can find em for 20 bucks sometimes. Levis 527 are okay too. I have a couple pairs of Lucky Brand 221, fit me the best without looking frumpy, go for the dark wash. Other brands to take a look at are Cinch, Hudson, and AG Matchbox.

If you want them to stack get a about 2-4 up on your normal leg size. This is the traditional look, so they don't ride up when you're on a horse.

Otherwise ignore the other /fa/gs they have no clue.

Thanks for the help. I've been wearing some Billy Reid selvedge for some time now and I totally forgot to consider normie brands. I would still like selvedge though, so I'll check to see if levis has a high end style.
