This is often true yes. Still, in my experience the people on the right are way more aesthetic than those on the left. The men are often more masculine and the women prettier. Which is not that hard considering all the blue-haired problem glasses wearing feminazi landwhales will be encountered on the left.
In general though people subscribing passionately to a single ideology have a low self worth and therefore find comfort in a bigger movement.
