Savile Row is a good bet. Un-fucking-believable quality made in England in rolled gold.

I bought the diaflex round and had lenses made for sunglasses because I'm autistic but you could try the combination frames.

These came in yesterday.
I would recommend eyebuydirect, which is where I got them, because of the price and quality, but they screwed up my prescription completely and I ended up waiting almost a month for these to come in.
Oh well, I'll call them and demand site credit or something.
I think they're having a BOGOF sale right now, if y'all are patient and cheap enough to wait.

Good for you, man. I literally sent them my prescription directly from my optometrist. I'm far-sighted, and they sent me the near-sighted equivalent of the lenses I need. I don't think that's a common thing with them, but It was pretty irritating.

you would look much, much better, if you got a better haircut--take some length off the sides

the glasses you currently have are awful, you should get something else immediately
don't get wayfarers, they're the chucks of glasses.
which glasses will suit you is going to depend greatly on your face shape. look up "glasses frames for face shapes," look on warby parker, moscot, go through inspo albums until you slowly develop tastes.

I'll say they're a good bet, but just some caveats.

I have those ones Depp's wearing; wearing them right now. About savile:
Since they're about as hand made as you can still get these days, their tolerances are not 100% perfect: you'll get wobbly temples and other niggling annoyances.

But that's just the price you pay. If they were made on 21st century machinery like every other cookiecutter glasses frames brand out there you can expect much tighter tolerances, but Savile use shit out of the 19th century, and all their own screws and shit so it's not going to be perfect quality.

Another case in point:

With the ones I've got on (and, incidentally, the onces Depp's wearing there and the ones Harrison Ford wears in some of the Indy films) the plastic used to cover the metal frames is Zylo.

Now that's a very, very unusual material , an early plastic that went out of use probably by mid last century when modern petrochemical plastics came to the fore and replaced it. Mainly due to cost and ease of coloration. But perhaps for other reasons. I don't know about durability. I just know that when general plastics are needed, zylo doesn't come up anymore. It's a historical curiosity that savile have maintained using for good or for ill.

Now as to the problem:
The zylo piece that encircles the frames in these beaufort panto's is one piece that's attached as it comes off the heating machine and is basically friction fitted around the metal frame. There is a break at the junction where the temples are attached to the frames base.

I have noticed with my pair that is is very, very for the zylo at this breakage junction, to lift off since they're not glued on and not exactly friction fitted on particularly tightly.

I recall reading of this issue before purchasing my pair in reviews by several others online.

Regardless, I wanted them and are generally pleased.

So zylo's okay, but it was replaced for a reason

>> No.11912566

>>11912548
contd:

I have been debating whether or not a tiny, absolutely minute amount of glue at this liftage would be necessary.

my point is:

Savile is very good, but don't expect super duper 100% durability nor the sort of QC that you'd get out of some modern raybans or whatever that are just spat out of a chinese robot by their millions.

Adjust your expectations accordingly, taking into account the "hand made" nature of the frames and the kinds of archaic machinery used and outdated materials they're made from in the first place.

They're a connoisseurs choice for eyeglass frames, if you'll pardon the douchey choice of elitist language, but that's the truth.

If you want "fast food" glasses frames then look somewhere else.

Oh, and one last thing about Savile:

If you custom order a pair with either a nose saddle instead of pads and especially if you get a pair with curved cable temples, FFS GET THEM FROM A RETAILER IN PERSON THAT'S FAMILIAR ENOUGH WITH SAVILE THAT THEY CAN FIT THEM PROPERLY.

I have no idea how anyone doing the custom route with the above choices (saddle/curved) can get a comfy fit.

I had to get a guy from the savile factory itself to fit them on my stupid face before they were 100% comfortable.
Now they're awesome.

Easier said than done, but if any anon's in or travelling to London, then I recommend doing it this way.

Yeah it was for that reason that I went for metal only frames without any plastics. I heard that over time they can crack and can be extremely difficult to repair.

That being said I am immensely pleased with the Diaflex frames I received and I went with nose pads for comfort any way. I also got them curled.

I expect they'll last me for a good decade if not more assuming I look after them.

And for anyone purchasing from them here, they take longer than the 5-8 days advertised for a non combination order; mine took over 2 weeks. But thats a good thing. Prefer they dont rush it.

Hey guys, can anyone recommend a frame or two? I'm guessing I have an oval face so I've been considering rectangular or circular wayfarers.
Also I'm not sure what colour would work well, I have blond hair, warm skin tone and green eyes so I thought a brown amber frame would look best.

Shave, lose a few pounds, and do nopoo.

No, I'm not one of those "YOU HAVE TO BE CLEAN SHAVEN OR YOU LOOK LIKE LE REDDIT LUMBERSEXUAL TRYHARD NUMALE BOOGEYMAN" faggots, you just are simply not able to grow anything decent yet. And as long as you refuse to make yourself look nice, it literally won't matter what glasses you get because you'll look awful anyway.
Your hair could look good even though it's on the thin side, but it's too frizzy/wispy. Garnier Fructis has a anti-frizz product that works pretty well if you're too chicken to do nopoo (it also works in moderation even if you are on nopoo). Length is good though.
You have nice facial proportions, but you're carrying a bit of babyfat. Deal with that as necessary without starving yourself.

Once you've done all of that, you could probably pull off some roundish plastic frames like the goose.

>> No.11921578

I'm at around 15% body fat, if anything I'm a bit skinny. Maybe it's the angle of the photo or I have a bloated face.
Also already doing nopoo, it been about 1.5 years.

So round glasses would be alright?

>> No.11921592

>>11921578
That's what your hair looks like after nopoo? Ok, yeah, definitely check out the product I told you about, or something similar.
Yeah, round frames could work. But again, you've gotta shave (or at least turn it into stubble with a shaved neck)

Your face shape can accommodate a lot of frames, but that nose is far too feminine to experiment with super trendy shapes and designs. I think aviators would look good on you though
And you do need a haircut. Or at least put some product in there and get that hair out of your forehead. It'll look better, I can almost promise you.

When they crack, because you probably will drop them or whatever at some stage, they will be costly to repair and it won't look good.

The texture is so much nicer than plastic though.

It's grainy like wood almost but dense

The lenses are Zeiss glass.

I've never felt a pair of glasses this high quality. Used to having polycarbonate lenses and acetate frames

I got these frames from a specialty optometrist in Taiwan. I guess it is the Hemil Legato, just some very obscure Korean designer. This is their website in case you wanted it.

Why is it that when I wear my (polarised) way farers I can see my eyes through the lenses when looking at a mirror yet when Others are repping wayfarers it's completely black and I cannot really make out their eyes at all?

>> No.11938124

>>11937885
It has to do with how the material works. Imagine regular light, such as from the sun, comes in all rotations of the wave. Polarising lens work by only allowing certain orientations of this light through thus reducing the intensity of light coming through.
When you look in the mirror, the light is only polarised in the orientation that your glasses allow it to be, but when you look through two or more lenses it's possible for less orientations to be let through, so that's what happens when you look at other people's glasses.
This means that people without sunglasses will see your eyes to the same level that you do while people with polarising sunglasses will see your eyes the same way you do theirs.

Tldr: People can see your eyes

I don't know but I'm developing two sets of jewelry, one of 14k gold / gold plated and the other sterling silver / 14k white gold. The sets are as follows:

-sunglasses (metal rims)
-pendant & chain
-right hand middle finger
-right hand pinky
-handcuff bracelet (silver is OG Helmut Lang)
-watch
-man bangle
-belt buckle
-cigarette case
-vintage lighter
-boot harnesses

Obviously I don't wear it all at once, and I'm still building it, will probably finish it in the event I land this new job.

Well I don't know shit about shit. But the main advantage of polarization is you can reduce glare without making the lenses darker, so I'd imagine they would take advantage of that.

And, just intuitively, sunlight is different from your bathroom light. Go outside and look in your car mirror to be sure.
