That's my school's library OP

as I've gotten older and less edgy I've grown to appreciate craftsman styles. But minimalist versions like flw except without the asian influence. also minimal versions of georgian homes.

as far as commercial buildings i like some of the more industrial art deco stuff. some concrete stuff. socal has a lot of good examples of that.

Brutalism is shit. It's not "dark" or "dystopian" like you think it is. I live in a city with tons of it and it's just filthy and disgusting looking. Makes you feel like you're living in some sort of giant ghetto.

Thankfully most of my city is Georgian architecture which is vastly superior

This is the problem. A single Brutalist building looks cool in isolation, but when you get a bunch together it just becomes a shitty sea of concrete, and as that anon says, not even in a cool dystopian way. Also, the interiors are never as cool as the exteriors, and building interiors are what should matter to /fa/.

I like MCM a lot but it doesn't suit the avant garde shit that /fa/ is really known for, it's more suited to suits and dadcore and stuff.

I think contemporary is the most stereotypically /fa/.

u wot? that's one of the main criticisms against brutalism, and its completely invalid because the only reason you find it dark and dystopian is because of passive association from movies and films from the 70s-80s, where brutalism was the stereotypically "futuristic" style of architecture

brutalism at its best is comfortable, safe and protecting, integrated with the natural landscape and reminiscent of monolithic structures like ancient stone architecture and natural bluffs / cliff caves

there are a lot of bad / poorly maintained examples but that doesn't mean you can dismiss the style as a whole
