I don't think I'm attractive any more, I think I look just kind of weird because my head circumference and waist measurement are 0.5"-1" apart. I personally kind of like how it looks but I know that guys don't.

It's harder than people say it is, a lot of media makes believe that you just touch the back of your throat and everything in your stomach comes up.

Actually you have to hold your fingers down on the back of your throat and move it around. I always hope I get lucky and the disgust at vomiting keeps me vomiting but usually you have to repeat it a few times to get everything out. I suppose it's easier for bulimics.

Laxatives are good too.

Oh boy, this made me realize how far into this I am.

I've been throwing up for a few years and at this point I kind of just push my stomach at a certain spot and maybe wiggle my finger in my throat a bit if that doesn't work. It's easy to keep going, usually I only stop until I'm just gagging on air.

I never binge, only purge if I feel too full or ate something that freaks me out.

Mostly that I would never do it again and I would certainly not make a habit. If anything it became a good reason not to eat so much, because if I ate a big meal I would force myself to throw it up.

I also have sort of a complex about starving people, so I felt incredibly fallen and dirty, but there was almost a comfort in it. I don't know if you've ever read Notes from the Underground, but that feeling of sublime wretchedness he describes is very descriptive of it.

I think for a lot of people it isn't about weight loss, since everyone knows bulimics are usually average or overweight. At least for me, it's more about relieving stress or feeling in control.

The first time I purged was in my first year of university when I was really depressed and was getting bullied. (yes, bullied in university)

It's shameful and embarrassing at first but you get to be really efficient and quiet at it. The biggest downside is that I had to have about 12 fillings in my teeth last time I went to the dentist.

Yep. I didn't start losing until college, actually, and my family acts like it was some freak event "reverse freshman 15" when really...they're all chubby and eat way too much, even though real Latin American food isn't even that high calorie (just meats, veg, corn tortillas, beans, etc)

It's also hard because even though I'm still pretty pudgy compared to white and asian girls, my family thinks I'm literally medically underweight. On the upside, it's nice being the thinnest cousin at family gatherings.

Really? I always see them eating lots of rice and beans. I live in an area populated with a lot of Cubans and they really dig the rice and beans and also empanadas and little bocaditos and such. ah, i know how hard it is to lose weight because of your family.

i've been visiting my parents 3x a week instead of just once, and my mom has been making really terrible food. it's really rude to not at least taste each dish, but she makes literally 6 different things a night, so even tasting each thing adds up. i called her out on trying to force feed last night, so hopefully she'll stop. while we eat dinner, she will repeatedly name all the dishes and keep saying, "try it, it's good! eat more!" well no shit it tastes good... then as soon as we're done, she'll walk out with a plate of dessert that no one asked for even though everyone was saying they were so full.

she used to be around 95lbs 5ish years ago when she ran marathons, but she got injured and became chubby. i remember she used to tell me i was fat when i was 103lbs and made me run with her, so i got down to 93lbs at one point. i think she's just trying to make me gain weight like her even though she's starting to lose (she started working out again). that or she's seriously just bored out of her mind because she works less now and enjoys cooking. maybe it's both.

I would definitely say my family eats too much healthy stuff. Since we moved to the USA when I was a kid they've been obsessed with organic ingredients and we have never eaten anything processed or fried or sugary. I've watched my parents eat and I think their main problem is that they just eat constantly, and huge portions, but they equate "healthy" with "low calorie." Typically they have a bunch of avocado on toast for breakfast and dump honey and soymilk in their coffee, and I just sit there thinking about how that's got to be at least 400-500 calories right there. Not to mention the days when they cook chorizo and eggs.

Absorption of food takes place in the small intestine not the stomach, it takes 6 to 8 hours for food to pass through stomach and small intestine. Retention is mostly from food you failed to purge, being able to absorb 80% of calories that fast would be inhuman lmao. I think whoever told that anon that number was trying to deter them from b&p or maybe many ppl who purge stops after only 20% of the food thinking they've done enough, but you should be able to tell, the volume would be more than what you ate to account for fluids

When I'm with friends, I usually have a small amount of whatever's offered or say I already ate. It's kind of tough when I'm at home though since my family has parties really often and there's always cake for everyone to have 2-3 slices and leftovers too.

>why is eating such a social activity?
Because most people enjoy it and don't put any real restrictions on what they eat. Dieting makes social events difficult when you have to explain why you're not eating, so most people don't do it seriously.

i think that during holidays is always hard to maintain, but the bright side is that (depending where do you live) it's also winter! And winter clothes can cover up a little bit of the weight gain
the ideal would be eat with moderation so you don't bounce? if not, you can always shed it while covering it under the comfy winter clothes

dipping a bit in weight under your goal it's a good plan too! but after reaching you 1st goal it's always good to take some time to enjoy and just take a "break" from dieting, it's good for your mental health, it will prevent you from bingeing
