It sounds over-simplified, but just committing to it and doing it really. I used to get up, make a small bowl of oatmeal with water for about ~100 and then end up snacking my way up to 1000-1200 anyway, but eventually it made more sense to have the same amount of calories, enjoy them and not be constantly eating throughout the day if I just planned bigger meals to begin with. Eat a breakfast of 300-400, try not to eat it too fast or too slow, and keep distracted when you're finished if you feel like eating more until the feeling subsides. Gum helps too if you need to keep your mouth busy.

For drinks, I really developed a taste for sparkling water and now I crave it as a treat. Flavored zero calorie sparkling water if I want it to feel like a snack. I don't really like la croix because the low taste to high carbonation ratio is unpleasant. I also drink light vanilla soymilk, but small portions bc sugar.

As for snack foods, some low calorie stuff I eat is roasted seaweed (10-25 cal per serving), a packet of miso soup (25-35cal), a few bites of kimchi or other pickled vegetables (around 15cal), rice cakes (35 cal each, though I don't recommend because they tend to just make me hungrier), cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, etc other vegetables you can snack on.

For a low calorie meal, I like to make a spicy broth with some vegetables. No noodles, of course. If it's too hot for broth, I like canned tuna or sardines (in water, not oil) seasoned with something low/zero calorie like hot sauce or mustard. Sometimes I just eat a whole roasted sweet potato. Any of these should be around 200cal. I've also been trying out different types of seaweed salad with a dressing of rice vinegar and soy sauce.

Obviously I really recommend looking into Japanese and South Korean diet foods, there's some good low cal stuff like the infamous zero calorie noodles.

Hey guys. Sorry for the diary post but I need advice please.

I've been having trouble breaking below 123.4 at 5'8" for almost 2 weeks now. In exactly 1 month, I've only lost 4.5lbs.

I haven't seen 115 in nearly 2 years. My real goal is 105, but I can't even get below 120 at this point and I'm discouraged. Is it possible my BMR is just very, very low? I log all my calories.

I'm not sure what the clubs are like elsewhere (although I've heard they're pretty sketchy), but I live in a small town with only one club that is super by the book. 2 weeks isn't weird for 'no loss', and given how little you exercise you're still pretty sedentary (iirc, under 5k steps is sedentary?). 4lbs in a month is also pretty normal and the recommended speed of weight loss on this board. You're doing fine, you're just very inactive and your weight is dropping.

What sorts of things do you eat? Are you relying a lot on vitamins for your energy? Do you drink a lot of caffeine? If you're really unsure you might want to see a doctor as it could relate to depression, or be something like a thyroid issue. (I'd go sooner rather than later with an ED history too since they won't be fussed about your current weight but might get harder to deal with much lower.) There could be any number of reasons. Exercise may help if it's a psychological issue, but it could also just make you more tired if it's related to something else.

After a month of <1000kcal dieting I've finally gotten to the point where I just don't get hungry at all anymore and it feels fantastic. Not even getting tired like I did in the beginning, and reaching my GW now feels very realistic.

I'd recommend 1300-1400 calories and add in a multi vitamin until you get to your UGW and raise your calories some more. Eat as much quality food as possible to try to get as much nutrition during this process. Eat lots of fiber and protein to feel more full.

It's better to lose slowly and keep it off, then quickly as rebound.

This seems to be the thread with the most activity so I have a question and dont want to waste space ,making another thread.

My hoodie zipper sticks. Not zipping up but trying to get it down it gets caught and stuck. Any recommendations on how to fix it? There's nothing wrong with the zipper or anything stuck in it. Suggestions?

Not enough. A friend at work tried to set me up with someone, but she lived in northern Florida so wasn't really practical. Either way I said if she's ever in Miami to hit me up, but don't think she comes down often. I asked another girl out this year, she said yes but later backed out before the date. I've been skipping a lot of work-social type stuff because I don't like the crowd and I'm pretty young for my industry, and people just get really drunk and are kind of tacky in it so I perhaps should go to more of those events but I'm just so tired of them. I do some things with family but that's about it.

Don't do exercise on that little. Preferably eat more, but if you must restrict that low then cardio will only make you fatigued and probably cause you to retain more water.

LISS cardio doesnt burn much calories. HIIT can have you burning 400-700 per half hour session.
