H&M's business model is to product copies of designer stuff at low cost and keep up with the streetwear scene

Uniqlo's business model is to produce basics at a low cost at as high a quality as they can manage

which seems better

because its japanese and we're on /fa/
its good
not great
theres a retarded amount of instant coffee connoisseurs on /fa/ here singing its praises but at the end of the day its still fast fashion

Not much
Shit's made in China so quality is still pretty meh and it's equivalently immoral as h&m and their ilk in terms of sweatshops and shit
Find a place that makes good basics from where your from and be ok with a very slightly higher price
A basic tee made in Canada for example should only run you up to around 30 CAD

Chinas manufacturing status is not sweatshop tier. They are paid a decent wage, even if they might be overworked. I think 23,000$ is about the yearly salary for working in the factory.

That said, H&M stitching makes me want to hurl.

The important factor about chinese labor is definitely that. They can leave if they wish to, and work some place else. Most dont, but that is because they are coming out of poverty. Isn't some Uniqlo stuff made in Japan?

I don't care enough. I'd rather buy a bunch of ammo rather than one pair of overpriced pants. I've been wearing H&M clothes for over seven years and nothing has ever torn, even under heavy use. I did have a pocket rip one time in a pair of pants (luckily not the one I had my key in). Then when I got home I stitched it up and haven't had a problem since.

>> No.11869933

>>11869625
It's not a meme. All my H&M shit starts to fall apart after a few washes. Colors fade, seams rip, and you can just tell from the material that they're low quality. I don't buy from them anymore

UNIQLO isn't really cheaper than H&M per se
e.g. basic sweaters on uniqlos website are 35 and on H&Ms they are 30
uniqlos winter coats start at 100 and 120, H&Ms start at 80
etc
but yeah, just buy at both stores, bc that's what you are going to do anyways

OP if you have shit from both try reviewing the pieces you have, like you dont have to publish them or anything just write down a quick review noting quality after a few weeks/months, fit, value, anything else, and then compare the brands based on those reviews and draw your own conclusions.

Ive had nothing but good experiences with my supima, dry pack t and supima t, among other things. To be honest, it almost seems like theres no point getting the supima ones over the dry pack ones - the dry pack ones seem to be very good quality for the price while supima is still good but diminishing returns.

The cuts are nice, especially in the new UUUU-collection, and the reason they can do better cuts is that they order insane amounts (for example the coat is double faced w hidden stiching). But you're fooling yourself if you think that the material will be great for a 149 € coat. Or a to have a great 25 € sweat (a manufacturing of a GREAT sweat is around 25 € / shirt if you have a good relationship, + the markups, so nope, not going to happen).

These are not good quality basics, they are well cut mid-quality basics (at best). If you want better quality you will have to pay more, there is absolutely no way around it. If you want good quality basics, look at brands like Maison Standards for example. Very decent prices considering the quality.
