Timbs are really difficult to pull off in a respectable outfit. They look chunky and monolithic and draw a lot of attention down to your feet, which throws most outfits out of proportion and looks really off-key.

Your jeans are passable. Get some decent black leather boots – Red Wings, Wolverine, or Corcoran if you're feeling cheap and risky. Docs are a meme; don't bother with them unless you're going for an authentic Sex Pistols look. /r/goodyearwelt is a good place to learn about boots, but don't get sucked into their heritage americana circlejerk. Black is the most versatile colour for boots – you can dress it up or dress it down; wear it in a modern industrial minimalist style or a traditional preppy style.

Ditch that ill-fitting marled hoody abomination and get a slim grey cable knit sweater and an olive drab field jacket or BDU top (avoid camouflage patterns).
