It's better if you didn't. I used to be in that mindset too, but it only gives more control to the food. Eat the snacks you were planning to eat, you'll gain a bit of water weight but w/e, then throw out whatever tempts you.

But, remember that your dopamine always wants what it can't have. If you haven't already, try intermittent fasting. To keep my cravings/binges down, I usually have one day every week where, for my single meal of ~1164 calories I make or buy something I've been desiring. I still stay within my caloric limits for the day, but I get to eat what i want.

I'm a bit hungry in the mornings but it doesn't matter as work keeps me busy, so coffee is enough. I'll have my biggest meal at around 2pm. Next time I'll be hungry at about 7pm, then I'll power through a workout and eat at 8 so I won't be hungry in bed. I find that pretty important to feel comfortable on a deficit.

Breakfast/Lunch- I am on a 14 meal plan at my college, which is great for IF. I usually eat meals of mostly protein, then a small bit of carbs/fat, as well as a shit ton of fiber. Breakfast is eggs and oatmeal/Greek yoghurt mostly, lunch is chicken with vegetables and a bit of hummus.
Dinner- chicken or turkey, big salad with lettuce to make me full, then a bit of brown rice if I'll want the energy for studying.
Snacks- I grab a piece of fruit usually Apple or banana) as I leave the cafeteria, and eat it to substitute the meal that I'll be skipping. I have raw almonds and some junk food in my dorm that I'll eat when I want/earned it.

If I time when I eat based on when I need energy, and when I know I'll be able to postpone eating, I can eat maybe -500/700 cals of my TDEE (not including exercise) and not be tired and miserable.

Anyways I suggest if you start to get into it to go to parks or places that have a steady incline, so you're going uphill, it does double the work for your body that way than normally running on a flat surface.

I'm lucky that way because the park I go to has like 7 mile stretch of steady uphill.
