It's my second year learning about decoration and architecture and for this week I plan trying a new lightning setup.
I want to get darker rooms with only one (weak) light source, like pic related. The reason is that this way night feels like night.
I already changed my hospital's white bulb for 3000K led but I still not happy with the results.

Whats the difference? I believe lightning is easiest and cheapest way to achieving what I want. What is a dark room to you? a room painted with dark colors and dark furniture? I can't just buy paint or buy new furniture.

In the past I tried achieving the mood in Barry Lyndon's night scenes but it is impossible to do without multi sources of illumination and currently I own a single lamp. I could buy some chinese ugly shit but I prefer saving the money until I can afford a good lamp. Also candles are impracticable since they goona be expensive in the long run, may burn down the house and release fumes in the air.

How? Do I need a huge room to create contrast? my room is very small so using a single strong illumination source would lit the entire room instead of creating contrast.
