Hi, there /fa/. English is not my native language so I'm sorry for any typos. Need advice with choosing pomade for my shitty "kinda" curly hair. I mean they were curly in the past, right now they thinned a little and they are neither straight nor curly - they're in a kind of half-assed state and it's pissing me off but I would look like a freakin potato without them so yeah...

Anyways, I've tried Reuzel red water-based pomade and it was a complete disaster... Small amount of product, big amount of product - it didn't matter becase my hair looked like I haven't washed them in months either way and I tried to slick them with a comb evenly distributing the product. It didn't look nearly as cool as on those reviews videos on youtube and I couldn't even slick them how I wanted them. Simple go2b "beach boy" matte hair paste from Schwarzkopf did a better job.

Right know I'm using Byrd Matte and it's ok but it's kind of hard to apply after a while and it still doesn't hold my hair as I would like to but my hair sure looks natural and sometimes I'm kinda there and sometimes I overuse it and my hair looks exactly like with Reuzel pomade - like I haven't washed my head in months.

So I've been thinking about Layrite Superhold or Cement - since I don't have a lot of choice here in Poland besides Reuzel, Byrd, Layrite, Uppercut and Schmiere, Suavecito + there are a bunch of pomades with weird names and Murray's.

What should I use? Or maybe it's my fault for choosing water-based pomades? Maybe I should go full oldschool? But as you've guessed I don't like a lot of shine.

I have loose curls myself, dont know how they compare to your curls without seeing a pic, but i use pic related. It works well and if you can pick it up for 6 bucks at Target. Only thing to note is that it smells like coconut. For me thats not a problem beacuse i enjoy the smell, it layers well with my cologne, and the ladies love it.

Pic related has a matte finish.

I've used Murrays beeswax and it's similar to the pomade, but I don't remember if it was matte.

Suavecito Firme Hold works for me

I got wavy hair, but Suavecito keeps it straight and in model. Its also easily washable

why don't you use straightening shampoo first, anon

just use murrays or dax, but learn how to apply it correctly.

I have extremely thick and curly hair and Layrite shit is completely worthless on my hair, it does practically nothing.

I seriously just use Murray's Superior Hold pomade. It will be very hard to wash out and it can pull out some hairs while coming but it straightens out my hair and makes it look more textured than anything else I've used. It's also in practically every convenience store near me and costs like $3. Worth it IMO

If you don't mind spending a little more and waiting for shipping Goon Grease has a really delicious scent to it.

Nope, I'm assuming it's some sort of online shop or something, right?

That's about what I can get here in Poland. I posted these links here in case some of those pomades with weird names are actually good.

Hmm, good advice. I actually thought about it like a while baack. never actually bought one.

The useless Layrite I used was the Super Hold one. I don't know if there's anything stronger they have, but I know that's one of their highest hold ones and yeah, it barely worked on my hair.

Can confirm this works well, cuz I used it for awhile....don't like straightening my hair anymore cuz it feels too flat

Well Murray's was legit made for black people at the beginning, so it should be able to handle your hair no problem. It is very thick though and will not wash out with one shower. See if you can find the lighter version.

We don't have Target nor Walmart here, but we have a lot of Tesco's and LIDL's. Also we do have a shop called Rossmann here in my town and they sell only hair products mostly but they don't have any pomades there... Only hair cremes, pastes and gels. I bought there got2b "beach boy" matte hair paste from Schwarzkopf and yeah it's pretty good product. I will try a few more pomades and if I can't find anything that I like and is worth it's price then I think I will stick to what Rossmann has to offer and about Suavecito I guess it's pretty crazy from your perspective!

Good to know, maybe I'll try straightening shampoo.
