>What are you wearing?

Z serial polar explorer 16570

>Do you own a collection? Show it.

I also have an Oris Artelier Date which I received as a present but don't wear much.

>What do you plan on buying in the future?

Grande Reverso Duo, white crystal Milgauss 116400 and a 36mm Datejust. No haute horology plans so far because because knowing myself I'd just keep watches like that in a drawer instead of wearing them.

Let me go ahead and list the reasons why the Vostok Amphibia is the best watch for under 300 dollars:
>Large variety of styles
>More waterproof than watches well past 400 USD (It can survive well past the rated 200m)
>Invincible due to simplistic Soviet engineering
>Looks great
>Cheap: from 60-90 depending on dealer
I can't believe people don't look at them more. It's all those cheap tacky looking Seikos the kiddies want. I'll be dust by the time this watch is broken. This watch isn't cheap by design, or to fit into a price bracket. It's cheap by necessity, because it was designed by poor-ass barely industrialized Russians in the 60s, for the Navy and special forces. These motherfuckers were worn by barely lucid Russians to help spread the poverty-stricken glory of the motherland. What was your shitty overpriced Seiko diver used for? Nothing. It sits upon the lanky arm of many a Jap teenage hipster, that's for sure. The Amphibias didn't even come with a wrist strap because it was expected back then that you'd not be able to buy anything else, so you would have to use your grandfather's strap.

Get an (Amphibia, Amphibian, Amfibia) for your first watch. It's as good as it gets for the price until you start looking at 300+ USD watches. It's the world's best value in a watch for the price regardless.

No
> It's all those cheap tacky looking Seikos the kiddies want
Those look bad too
>I'll be dust by the time this watch is broken
That's because you'll either throw it across the room out of frustration that it isn't keeping good time, or it will start keeping even worse time after a few years and you won't want to spend $150 on an overhaul, assuming you can find a watchmaker who will even consent to working on a soviet novelty watch. it will then sit in your sock drawer for 15 years and then you'll lose it during a move
>What was your shitty overpriced Seiko diver used for?
I don't have one
>many a Jap teenage hipster
It's mostly neckbeards who buy those, same neckbeards who go for ugly ass watches with "ironic" USSR insignia
>The Amphibias didn't even come with a wrist strap because it was expected back then that you'd not be able to buy anything else, so you would have to use your grandfather's strap.

there ought to be a two digit alphanumeric date code on the back if it's from 1950 or later
if it's pre-1950, you gotta pop open the case
look for a small geometric symbol on the back of the movement itself, usually around the outside rim

This is the model, they don't have it in stock right now, but it'll probably be back, or you can find it somewhere else. Replace the metal band that it comes with with a red NATO strap to get the look on the picture. Just look around for a strap as bright as that one, you'll find one.

Is it making a ticking noise?

Hold the watch vertically (i.e., 12 pointing at sky, 6 at ground) and smoothly but quickly rotate it back and forth (like you're turning a doorknob) a few times, about sixty degrees to the left and about sixty degrees to the right. Speed of rotating should be about 2 Hz (i.e., Left-Right-Left-Right in 1 second). Does it start?

Can you see the watch movement through the back?

For an Accutron? Working order? General condition is alright?
I would say it goes for over $250 USD, based on my extensive bidding history. When the Accutrons pop up, depending on condition and rarity, they can go from 200-1000. I have yet to find an accutron on ebay that sells for less than $100 if intact. If you see them, sure as hell send me the link because I will have it serviced and replace the crystal and whatever else necessary. I just find it strange that a decent condition vintage Accutron could sell for that low. Given the fact the vintages utilized the Tuning fork, they would sell well even in poor parts or repair condition.

I got my Orient Lexington the other day, it has the in-house 46A40 movement, and a beautiful date/extended day window at the bottom, specifically love the red second hand tip. Overall, pretty accurate out of the box, at around -6-8 seconds/day, which can generally be expected from this great little watches. I am also pretty excited to get my Omega cal. 1012 in about a week.

>>11566949
The Carrera 5 is a good watch, but probably not a good watch for the MSRP. The movement is a standard ETA 2824, non-certified chronometer, and is also not modified, only decorated. Regarding the movement, it is an entry level Swiss movement, at a mid-tier Swiss timepiece price, technically should be lower, but overall it isn't bad. I am not aware of the finishing or build quality since I haven't felt the carrera 5, nor do I own any Tag Heuers, but if you got it for free, then it is still a good watch, should keep pretty good time if regulated, and is generally a durable workhorse movement, pretty much the most popular movement from ETA.

Don't do it friendo. It's literally 10 dollars worth of materials. Either get a 50 dollar quartz, or get a decent mechanical for 300 dollars.
You could try for the Tissot Le Locle--looks great, decent brand, automatic, and looks way better.

My seiko is this one in the picture, but with a silver face instead, and it's been through enough for the numbers to fade entirely and look like they're just engraved.

What made me stop wearing it, apart from being entirely uncomfortable to type with (and I type all day cause I'm a software developer) was that the thing that covers the date display fell off after hitting it while I was carrying military equipment during my time serving, and when I got it serviced the fucking imbecile that repaired it used super glue which you can see a splash of it around there if you look very closely.

The one I'll be buying will be a Sea Urchin, and I'll be swapping the strap with a nato strap in grey, for comfort while typing.

That's ugly to be honest. Objectively that much money on a watch is a huge waste, but we are allowed to be wasteful on things we find beautiful, and that watch isn't worth the waste.

I was looking into getting another watch, and came across this for 100 euro. I don't really wear a lot of brown anymore so I don't think I can support the gold details but that watch is so beautiful, especially for the price.

The whole watch rubs me the wrong way. Uses what is probably a cheap Miyota movement like you'd find in a $100 watch, but costs many times more; puts "17 Jewels" on the dial as if the specifics of the cheap movement matter; less than 10ATM water resistance when 10ATM is considered the magic number for whether or not a watch can take a soak. It's got the tritium I guess, but I wouldn't pay that much for it.

A general rule I've heard is that you shouldn't let the lugs of the watch go past your wrist. Also, 36mm is the classic mens size but the trend is larger right now. So if you're in the market for something you'll keep forever, I'd suggest a 36mm Rolex but thats just me.
