I agree that the quality is better, but OP has a point.

"Designer" clothing has a name for its "design." If OP can buy a shoe that looks exactly the same on feet what's the issue? Granted the leather and craftsmanship maybe be 100x worse, it doesn't take much away from the design itself.

This would be a good point if it was in any way true. I've had replicas and now own genuine Geos and Ramones. They look nothing alike on feet, and the materials/construction of the authentics are infinitely superior.
