Do any of you lose weight after a binge? I ate 1900 kcal yesterday and lost 600 grams. I usually eat ~1200 kcal and lose about 100 grams per day.

Yeah. I've noticed that a few times. I think your body stops trying to hang on to the fat, lets its guard down.

I have no science to back it, but I suspect "cheat days" might not be a bad idea every once in a while.

Almonds. They are actually high calorie but just 5-6 holds me over for an hour or so, which is usually all I need to get to my next meal. I eat the raw ones with no sodium.

For me, like once a week I meet my dad and we go out to dinner. That day I'll eat calorie restricted like usual until I get to dinner. Then at dinner I don't go crazy and eat everything in sight, but, I'll go significantly over my TDEE.

A few times I "binged" but that was a big mistake because my body wasn't used to eating like that and when I got home I felt really sick. Especially when it comes to desert, since I'm not used to the sugar. I ate a whole slice of cheesecake a few months ago and man was that a mistake. Big time sick.

Depends more how you get there than what the end is, within reason. You shouldn't go below like 1300-1400kcal, so going from 18 to 17 should take a long time, 17 to 16, a super long time, and so forth. That way you are getting your nutrition and enough calories to run your body.

If you were 5' 7" and 120lbs, going to 100-lbs (bmi of 15) would take until beginning of next year doing it properly. That's not that far away and would be the safe way to go. Of course it is tempting to eat 800 or something, but, that really risks health problems.

i don't know really. about 14 months ago i was 142lbs and wanted to lose weight so i drastically cut calories and started exercising more. it got to november when i started passing out everywhere and that was the first time the doctors ever looked at my weight (i was 112lb on the home scales and 108lbs on the scales in the doctor's office) and even though i did have an underweight bmi the doctor didn't pursue anything because i faked a normal interest in food.

it's even shitter than you can imagine though - everything i eat bar a handful of 'safe' foods, i feel guilty about eating. i have to weigh loose foods. i have cried and screamed at my parents (i still live with them) over family meals. most days i'm extremely weak and struggle to walk. i also binge eat when drunk and feel shitty about it forever. my parents are now making me get help and i have a doctors appointment thursday and i have no idea what i'm going to weigh since now i'm 104lbs on the scales at home that weigh heavy. i'm just worried that they won't take me seriously because i feel that i'm still fat and i still want to lose more

idk man i suck at losing weight. it takes me about a month to lose 10 lbs and that's like torture.

157 -> 135 (4 months)
then I gained again up to 145 over the course of about a year
145 -> 125 (4 months)
maintained for 2 months
125 -> 115 (2 months? iirc)
gained again back to 130ish
130 -> 112 (2 months)
gained again up to 128

I've had a downward trend but I really just thought I'd be at my goal by now and it always feels like I have to keep starting over. Also I've never actually felt thin when I'd lose weight so it's kinda disheartening

What do you think causes you to go down and then up? Do you get tired of restricting and then binge for a while, then catch yourself and diet again?

I wonder if more gradual weight loss might prevent that from happening. You'd get down to your weight slower but be less likely to go back up, making the overall trend the same rate. Not sure if that makes sense how I'm explaining it.

10-lbs in a month is really fast, and, might be the reason you bounce back up. If you do 4-5-lbs in a month that would be more sustainable

After 7-8 hours of eating your body goes in ketosis mode where it burns fat instead of the food you ate.Intermittent fasting means that you let your body go in ketosis mode and then eat.Doing that on the long term will put your body in ketosis mode easier and "boost your metabolism" (i know it's wrong to say it like that but same effect).

I personally eat once every 24 hours allowing my body to burn fat for 16 hours daily.

You just keep pushing it off until later. Let yourself get used to it. So if you guys normally eat at noon and again at 7pm or whatever, tomorrow eat at 1, next day eat at 2, 3, 4... and then by the time you can do that then you can just wait for dinner.

I like eating at night, I know the other anon said breakfast but I gotta have dinner to sleep well.

After you've done it a week it isn't hard. More of a mental challenge really.

>I'm eating a 500kcal LCHF meal a day
is that all you're eating? you're starving yourself, up your intake to at least 1200 cals. you'll lose weight without ruining your body. also are you serious it's only been a couple of days, chill. if you don't cheat you'll lose 3-4 kg in the first week from water/glycogen alone. your body is probably shocked from going into such a low cal/no carb diet.

>do you think i fucked up the diet?
yes, why would you do that? throw out any grains/fruit that might tempt you. you're never gonna go keto if you keep stuffing yourself with carbs. if you can't commit choose some other diet.

just go ketogenic then. you can eat as much fat and protein as you want (and still hit a normal, healthy level of calories), but without glycogen your body literally converts all the fat in your body into energy except the fat from your organs. The body can't store excess fat in long term ketogenic states. It's like anorexia without the possibility of dying because your organs are completely safe.

i've been here for about a month and intend to stay by upping my intake from ~300 cal/day (when i was losing) to averaging abt 500 now, and increasing every few days until im at maintenance (which for me, a short & small fem who's not all that active, is like 1400 i imagine, i'll experiment to see where i feel best + don't gain)
i might be destroying my body a bit, idk, but it doesn't feel like it right now and most of these effects i'd attribute more to the starving than the bmi, and that'll be ending soon as i reach normal calories

Intermintent fasting will actually improve your energy levels, since you're feeling hungry your brain relases chemicals to your body for it to more effeciently and will also boost your metabolism because "you need to go hunt for some food" is just how the brain is wired

>if people notice me skipping meals they might get a little concerned
people will always be concerned about everything, but this is your life and you should do whatever makes you happy and not what any one else "believes" makes you happy.

this is a tough process I used to be 104 pounds at my lowest, being a 5'7 guy this worried people around and i got so brain washed by them telling me I wasn't happy (even tho I never was happpier) I started gaining weight, eventually I reached 145 which is a "normal" weight for my age, gender, height etc, but I felt like shit, disgusted, depressed, lost, so I decided to be who I want to be and not what everybody expects me to be, I'm around 115lbs today and I Feel how my life is already feeling so much better, I'm siling more, hanging out with friends way more often and just feeling so much better overall.

I agree with this to a point. Although for me feeling moderately hungry all day and having more even energy levels seems preferable. When I don't eat for a long time I get spacey and light headed.

>at this point you have to chose.
>Do you want to lose weight?
A bit more (4-lbs). I'm older so not sure when I'll look stupid.

>Do you want food that will only satisfy you temporarily?
>and if, most of the time when people try to lose weight they only feel guilty after eating.
>That's what sacrifice means, giving up something good for something better.
Sure. I mean I've lost 62-lbs so far, so, the final 4-lbs will come off eventually. It's just about how fast I want that to happen. I need to do a better job of eating less during the day, for sure. Dinner I have to be full from because otherwise I can't sleep, which seems to be a common thing on this thread.

Rather than dieting, per say, I'm really more keen on learning how to eat. I'm trying to adjust the ways I eat to be how I'll eat forever that way I keep this off.

Start with 1400-1500kcal the first three days if you decide to do low carb diet ignoring weight loss because it's a pain in the ass to get rid of carbs, trust me.You'll find it extremely difficult to stick to,then do a higher deficit and you'll be burning fat 24/7.

Don't stop doing cardio like anon said. Cardio makes me less hungry and it fills the time between meals. I never ate breakfast even when I wasn't trying to lose weight but eat it if you want. Just means you have less calories for your other meals. You have to decide for yourself what kind of body you want. ~50 would be pretty thin but not skeletal though. Also, don't do a high deficit if you want to actually maintain your weight. Calculate your TDEE and substract up to 500 but you shouldn't eat less than 1200 kcal a day. The risk that you'll binge just goes up the more you restrict.

A lot of posts here, especially the 'dominant' methods proposed, reveal a complete ignorance of how the body works and actually loses weight.

The most amusing are the retards that say you shouldn't exercise, because "It totally makes you huge and hungry".
Fuck.
If you had exercised a single day in your lives you'd know that weight loss accompanied by muscle gains produces much faster results that look better than starving yourself.

A person who got thin with starving looks malnourished and sick. Tented skin and health problems, it's disgusting.
A person who got thin while exercising looks even thinner than a flabby anorexic, without even getting into the medically dangerous zone.

You're deliberately choosing the worst possible road to reach your objective, that produces the worst results in the longest time possible, only because you saw on a pro-ana tumblr that "Ana is totally the way to go guys!"

Even fly-away-in-the-wind-thin runway models hit the gym, you illiterate curs.

It's no use even trying to help them, you'll just be shouted down. The dogma here is that you don't get thin unless you have a 1000+Cal deficit and never exercise. They don't understand that the results of your entire first year of lifting makes you look smaller and more compact, not bigger.

Plus, they think exercise means running. They probably avoid actual weights like the plague because "omg it's going to make me so big and ugly :("

There's a retarded belief that the heavier the stuff you lift, the bigger muscles you'll grow, while in reality muscle mass is decided by how long you've been lifting to your limit, and no human being can grow more than like 10lbs of muscle A YEAR.

The point is not that it does it quicker, it's that it does it BETTER.
An anorexic body isn't sustainable, because starvation slows the metabolism down so much that once you hit your goal you're forced to either:
A - Keep starving to mantain bodyweight, eventually resulting in death
B - Eat normally, resulting in a threefold gain of bodyweight compared to a normally functioning real human bean

Physical exercise will give you the anorexic-looking body you so much desire, without killing you in the long run. You'll be able to look around you at your peers dying off like flies, while you alone survive in a land of idiots.

The caloric restriction shouldn't go higher than 500Cal under your TDEE, unlike many of this thread's posters, and you should be getting enough protein anyway to avoid having your body cannibalize itself.

Another point of overwhelming stupidity I see are vegan cuts and "I just fill up on X! It works!" nonsense. Your objective is shedding body fat. If you don't eat enough protein and don't accompany your diet with exercise, your body will start eating MUSCLE, not FAT, paradoxically making you look even fatter even as you lose weight.

Just an FYI, there are a lot of fasting approaches out there. Intermittent fasting is only one of them. You could try the 5:2 diet instead, or alternative day fasting. I like these approaches better since it isn't every day that I have to worry about controlling my eating in the morning, and for those days I usually know what I'll have throughout the day in order to meet a small calorie demand. If I space my calories out during a fast day I really only get hungry/low energy by the end of the day, and I can sleep off most of the hunger and indulge in the morning. I feel this diet approach is sustainable for me, with at least 1 fast day a week, and it is also scientifically backed to be healthy by keeping insulin sensitivity up and IGF-1 levels down.

It is worth nothing that I am a /fit/ fag and I use this for recomping while keeping my body fat down. Different goals, but maybe it's useful info for you. Also, that 'last 4 lbs' seems to always turn into the second to last 4 lbs, hopefully you are close to where you'd want to be.

refreshments you mean condiments? or you mean a drink?

also why do you drink water after the meal? for me before seems to work better for not overeating.

Healthy bowel movements require a few simple things:

1. Fiber (if you don't have easy bowel movements that is the surest sign that you aren't eating enough fruits and vegetables).
2. Water (If you are dehydrated then the colon begins to have its water removed).
3. Mental health (if you are an anxious wreck you will never be able to shit)

Exercising is a terrible way to lose weight. If you eat just ONE donut or pastry it will take you an hour of vigorous weightlifting or a few hours of running to "burn it off". Reducing calories is the easiest way to lose weight.

What's easier:
Preventing yourself from putting a donut in your mouth, chewing and swalling it (might require a few neurons to fire in your frontal lobe)
Bench pressing and squatting hundreds of pounds for an hour or so.

HOWEVER you are correct that being muscular from the gym and being healthy from cardio makes you look better. That is absolutely true. I would wager that a Victoria's Secret model is actually fairly strong, she just keeps her body fat percentage right above the point at which you can see the striations of her muscles.

While the rest of your post is true, this is pretty off. Running is vastly more effective for calorie burning than low-rep resistance weightlifting. An hour of running/jogging will probably net you a loss of a few hundred calories over an hour, while lifting will net you much less.

Why are people here encouraging mental illness? I lost a friend to anorexia in 2006, I mean why the fuck does pro-ana even exist?

Get help guys, and stay safe. I mean seriously.

>people actually aspire to be frail and weak in the name of "muh fashun"
I don't get it

>> No.11477668

>>11477653
You can't really 'encourage' anorexia. Most people who diet don't have/get an eating disorder, and those who do usually have a genetic background and childhood experiences that predispose them to that kind of thing. It's not a mental illness to think that being slightly underweight makes you look better in clothes, that viewpoint is pretty common 2bh.

>> No.11477689

I just don't get why people aspire to have bodies that look disgusting to the vast majority of people, when their goal is to look better, not to mention the physical health implications coupled with the possibility of mental illness that can lead to fatality

Honestly terribly underweight people are on par with the morbidly obese
