hello /fa/
Which products do you use to clean your shoes?
I'm looking for the best around and overall the safest to use across the most shoes/materials possible.
This one seems popular. Have any of you used it? Are there better?

Horse-hair brush.
1 applier brush for each color of wax.
Saphir or Kiwi wax, depends on the colors.
Cotton cloths (old underwear)
Don't buy kits, unless is a full one with a polishing box. Those are nice, but you'll end up spending more money than you actually need to.

natural fibers tend to be the way to go as they won't scratch your scratch your leather or damage your clothes. animal fibers like horse or boar are favored because they're a strong middle-ground between firmness and softness.

If you have shoes worth a damn, invest in Saphir products: Renovateur of course, but additionally the Renomat, Dubbin Graise, and Nettoyant for nubuck and suede, and an according shoe polish for your leather's color (tan, cordovan, black, etc): they aren't cheap, but their formulas haven't changed much in nearly one-hundred years, and most importantly they distinctly lack silicates, which warps leather and does more damage than good; considering that Saphir is the top-of-the-line shoe care product line, they should be considered an investment and a prudent one at that. I can genuinely say that, along with cedar shoe trees and a quality horsehair brush, that these items have prolonged the life of all my leather shoes (including work and hiking boots) by several years apiece.
